4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 shendrix (478) - Waukesha, USA - JUL 7, 2008
Ok, I’m a huge coffee fan, and this beer really won me over. It sat in the bottle deep, deep black, pouting out with a resepectable head and the unmistakable aroma of a mocha coffee. The palate is caramel sugars, coffee, sweet malts, and semi-sweet chocolate. Definitely give this one a try.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 StefanSD (1588) - Lakeside, California, USA - JUN 3, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2012 12oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a nearly opaque black color with a small tan head that soon fades to a film. The aroma is big and bold with, mocha, coffee liqueur and coffee grounds. The flavor is more of the same, lots of sweetened coffee, dark chocolate, roasted walnuts and coffee liqueur. The palate is a bit thin, but thats ok in 4.4% stout, and the carbonation is soft. Finishes short and dry. Overall: I found this much better than rates would have suggested. Its easily the best low abv stout I can recall.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 elektrikjester (76) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Pours an opaque dark brown with a thick, pillowy tan head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts, sweet overall but rather restrained. Taste is another matter completely, with an assertive coffee flavor dominating. Acidity of the coffee is rather high, making for a sour-sweet flavor. Sweetness of the malts adds to this profile, but there is also some bitterness noticeable as a result. Mouthfeel is a bit thick but far from oily, with a sharp tingling from the carbonation. In conclusion, I wouldn’t call this a great stout, but it is definitely a great coffee beer. One for the coffee geeks.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 zgaier (298) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Pours dark brown with a brown head and aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is toasty, of coffee and sweet roasted malt with a quick, dry finish. Solid coffee brew, if nothing special.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2197) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 24, 2012
355ml bottle listed at 5.9%ABV pours black in color with a finger of light tan head that leaves a thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by coffee with hints of chocolate, roasted barley and hops. Taste is coffee and roasted barley bitterness with a mild chocolate malty sweetness with a very mild hop presence. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent stout, but too much coffee flavor for my liking.

Smells sketchy, pours with little head. First drink has a nice coffee taste, by the next couple, just bitter stout flavor. So so

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 badhack (77) - San Jose, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Five on appearance just for pouring so dark. I don’t recall there being much head or CO2. The aroma was a strong coffee but had a slight off smell, maybe my bottle was old. The taste was of coffee and espresso and maybe a little chocolate and malt. It was strong and not something you drink quickly. Anti-refreshing.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 BVery (2612) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - MAR 15, 2012
Bottle. What an enigma! Pours a thick jet black with a gorgeous reddish-tan head. Smells like a million bucks - rich roasted coffee. So far, so good, and I’m getting excited. Now comes the taste - palate is too thin, and the flavor, although roast coffee, is really muted. This one is just a tease.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jjgmd (301) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Pours a dark opaque color. Aroma is malty with chocolate and coffee up front. Taste is all coffee with some chocolate, a bit light with a short finish. Drinks easy with the light ABV, and has a short espresso like finish. Had worse but also much better. Quaff Score ( drinkability with hearty enjoyment ) 6 / 10
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Thewade (125) - USA - MAR 7, 2012
Faint coffee notes. When compared to other coffee stouts this offering falls short for me.
