3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 georgekappus (296) - Brookfield, Connecticut, USA - APR 25, 2008
Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a bit of a head. Aroma was as it should have been, coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Taste was coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Oh and some roasted coffee. Just a bit too thin on the palate for such a coffee oriented beer.

12 oz. bottle coutesy of Acknud. Pours almost dead black, the color of black coffee. Coincedence, I think not. Nose is strongly of coffee. Taste is as you would expect from reading the commercial description, COFFEE. There are some roasted malts in the background. There is none of the usual caramel, toffee, & chocalate flavors usually found in stouts. Good creamy mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Pours darkest brown with a thin foamy tan head, quickly fading to a ring. Full, earthy aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor follows: the roast barley flavors harmonize well with both the bright aromatic and dark dusty elements of the coffee. Finishes on the roasty side. Lively in the mouth, but somewhat thin.

12 oz Bottle-Poured a dark black color w/no head. Strong coffee aroma, this thing will fuel you up! Traces of chocolate & roasted malt mix well w/ the coffee flavor, but this is a big beer, if you don’t like coffee you won’t like this. As the bar owner told me, "that beer just has too much going on for me"! I found it to ba a nice change of pace. Long, creamy finish.

Rumor has this may be an older bottle, but when pressed as to the exact date, my friend politely told me to "mind my own business."
Appearance: Pours a black body with a thin, wispy, beige head.
Smell: Malty nose smelling primarily of chocolate, with lesser notes of roast, nuts, and fruit.
Taste: Chocolate-covered coffee beans with a hint of licorice, almonds, and even prunes. Tiny, tiny blip of acidity. Mild hops with a small tingle of bitterness. Roasty, chocolatey finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Decent enough! Definitely easy drinking, particularly with the restrained ABV.

bottle. pours a nice black ... but without much head... very thin tan head... pleasant roasted coffee aroma along with some chocolate and sweet malts. thin to medium body that seems to get more robust as time moves on... more sweetness over the mouth with some light coffee flavors. finishes well with a lingering bitterness supported by more sweetness and a touch of nuts. This one is underrated.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 StefanSD (1588) - Lakeside, California, USA - JUN 3, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2012 12oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a nearly opaque black color with a small tan head that soon fades to a film. The aroma is big and bold with, mocha, coffee liqueur and coffee grounds. The flavor is more of the same, lots of sweetened coffee, dark chocolate, roasted walnuts and coffee liqueur. The palate is a bit thin, but thats ok in 4.4% stout, and the carbonation is soft. Finishes short and dry. Overall: I found this much better than rates would have suggested. Its easily the best low abv stout I can recall.

Aggressive pour into my Duvel glass filled the vessel with a strong buoyant creamy dark tan head over jet black. Slick oily aroma of fresh bulk dark roast beans. Starts with an expected heaviness on the palate, but it fades away and becomes thinner with each sip. Coffee character is strong on the back of the tongue with notes of hazelnut and almond. Surprised to see how differently I find this beer compared to the ratings below me.
