22 oz bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a thick tan head. Tons of sticky lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and an odd dark fruit scent. Very thin, taste is of coffee grinds, roasted malts, caramel malts, and pine hops. Nice bittery pine finish.

On tap @ Sir James. Impressive to look at - expresso black-brown, Creamy head - brief. IPA bitter with a more robust dark roasted malt foundation. Follws through with a slightly heavier palate. You feel like there is a reason for the "B" in IBA with this one. Very drinkable, with a little more heft, without being heavy.

Thanks to Ian for the bomber. Big roasted grain, floral hop aroma. Much the same in the taste, smooth easy drinking IBA.

Pours dark with tan head. Alot of head actually. Smells of pine and citrus. Tastes the mellow hops with a mix of malts. Very drinkable. Decent.

In short: A piney scented/perfumy black ipa low on malts. Weak example of the style.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed a few months after purchase.
The look: Black body topped by a large dark-beige head with medium retention.
In long: The aromatic hoppy nose is scented pine and a bit flowery with an overall perfumy sensation. Taste is low in the malt department, sparse roasted cereals, light yeasty sensation, green pine needles, rose water, burnt toasts crumbs, distant coffee beans, plain yoghurt, spicy edge in the hopping. The lowly malted and yeasty body is elusive which is particularly disappointing in this style of beer. Mild bitterness of short duration. Light perfume sensation in the after-taste. Not bad but rather weak for the style. I didn’t like the beer much but I drank the whole bomber anyway because my parents raised me well, “Finish you beer, there are sober kids in Africa” they always said.

Pours black with a bulging tan head on a slow pour. Aromas of citrusy fruits and a little bit of a floral scent. Not nearly as bitter as the nose would suggest, as well as a slight bit of maltiness that the nose left out as well. Really balanced taste that I thoroughly enjoy. Really light body, I’m guzzling without trying to. A short lived bitter after taste as well. A fine, but not great beer.
