3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good aroma with characteristic ipa bouquet. Flavor is good, nice hops and bitterness. A descent run of the mill ipa. No big wow factor, but good still.

Better than I expected. Various citrus fruits in the aroma, and moderate and well-balanced in the taste.

Bottle. Golden brown with an off white foam. Nice mango blast as the bottle is opened. Floral pine with herbal notes. Juicy fruit with sweet caramel and a peppery finish. Laid back but immensely drinkable.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/27/2015. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate malt flavors; with a great bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, and moderately creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Lakefront IPA hey? I once dove into a lake filled with fish piss that was about as tasty as this....or not. Actually it is not bad for an OK beer but it strays from mediocre. I think it’s good, but not great. If Val were to brew an IPA he would undoubtedly scream: "Wie wäre es mit einer doppelten Dosis dieser Hündin?"

Many thanks to "borussia dortmund" adam!
Pours an orange-amber, hazed color, with a solid head, collapsing to a glass coating lacing.
Smells of lime embraced orange, a note of grass and sweeter, cakey malts. On this foundation, a whiff of unripe kiwi amps up the aromas, pushing the beer into a well deserved fruity direction, leaning onto the hops.
Has a lively but very soft carbonation, opening the palate up to gently balanced hops.
Tastes of lime coated toffee malts, together with a very pleasant grassiness. Reveals an aqueous note which gets washed away by sweeter, prominent malts, heading into a biscuity direction, automatically enhancing the juicyness of the fruity hops. Those still stand out against the well working malt-backbone, due to the beers distinct, dry grassiness. Finishes with an even more dryer flavor, accompanied by cakey malts, adding a profound sweetness to the ale, even at that stage of drinking.
Well put together ipa, in which the malts are as important as the hops, lives by its outstanding balance, while lending the hops enough character to convince on their own.

Just way to harsh and bitter. No balance whatsoever. Taste is so astringent that I've poured 4 of the 6 out.
