This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a medium sized head of foamy off-white colored finely sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a hazy typically carbonated dark orange colored body with yeast floaties and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma contained nice strong floral hop notes. The mouth feel was strongly tingly with thick hop notes. The flavor contained very nice strong floral hops.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle, notched bottling date along the right side of the label, sampled in a pint glass. L: Hazy tarnished copper with a fast rising, frothy beige head that slowly settled into a creamy skim. Rings of splotchy lace circles the brim of the glass making this one fine looking IPA. S: Hop aromas of grapefruit pith and lemon zest, minty herbs and pine oils. Traces of cut grass and pungent cheese too. Just the lightest backing of sweet pale malts, hints of toasted white bread and caramelized sugar. F&T: Slick and oily on the tongue, airy and creamily full feeling in the mouth, the right amount of carbonation to give this a soft firmness. Oily hop tastes without being excessively bitter, more of a nice balance of sour hops with a sweet pale malt backing. Mint and woody herbs are the first hop tastes I noticed, followed by oily lemon and grapefruit peels and pine needles. Underneath the hops is sweet pale malt flavors, hints of biscuits and toasted grains before turning sugary at the end. Finishes wet and sticky with only bare notes of any drying hop spiciness, woody herbs and sour citrus with an underlining sugary maltiness. Lakefrontís IPA is highly drinkable, a refreshing quaffer. This is easily my favorite ale from this Milwaukee brewery, recommended.

heavy insulation-like head with copper-amber coloring leads to a grapefruit bitter with hints of black pepper and lemon and a decent malty backbone. A little above average but I just canít see it being rated as high as everyone else rates it here.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a small lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel,m earthiness, citrus and light pine with a crisp moderatly bitter finish.
A fairly boring and one dimensional IPA.

Pours a clear amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is soft and piney, fresh hops and grapefruit accompany it. Taste is very pleasent- citrusy with soft caramel undetones and a subtle floral character throughout the brew.

yeasty citrus aroma, crystal clear pale amber with 2 finger head that turns to film quickly. sweet malt and caramel upfront, turns to a bitter grassy hop flavor with a cirtus hop aftertaste

12oz bottle. Off aroma, in my opinion. Tastes nice and hoppy, but the piny flavors borders on artificial. Improves at it mellows and warms to room temperature...this is gonna demand a re-rate.

While this is an overall decent IPA, the finish left a little to be desired. I could have used a little more hops bitterness in the finish, and it was not as dry as I would have liked. I can definitely pick up on the Crayola flavor that the last reviewer wrote about. Itís not as unpleasant as it is strange. Not a bad IPA at all though. I think that the 87 rating is about right.

Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a medium white head. Good looking beer. Aroma is light citrus and pine hops with a touch of caramel. Taste is pretty much the same, but almost has a waxy, crayon like taste in the finish. Decent bitterness and lingers for a while. Not bad except for the crayola crayons that keep coming to mind.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2008 Better than the ESB, this ipa still had a litle of the sweet organic taste at the end but it was masked more by the hops and complemented this style more appropriately.
