valpoaj (288), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA May 10, 2008 Apricot pour with a fluffy white head that goes away quickly but leaves ample lacing...very nice looking. Aroma is a nice balance...good level of tropical citrus hops, some piney hops, lots of grapefruit, but some malt to back it all up while not being overwhelming in any aspect. Flavor is nicely balanced as well...loads of citrus (again, tons of light grapefruit) flavor, some pine notes, burnt caramel malts. Interestingly enough, the malt seems to really mix in near the end of the drink, keeping it from ending overly bitter like (at least how I feel as a non-hophead) most other IPAs. Pretty high level of carbonation, but the body on this thing is pretty heavy...very IIPA like! I gotta say, this was a very impressive IPA...one of the best I’ve had from the midwest save Bell’s Two Hearted! Great effort Lakefront!
DocLock (4102), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Draft at Capone’s. Pours dark straw with 1-finger clingy off-white head. Nose is deep piney hops, caramel malt, tangerine. Tastes crisp, smooth, and very resiny hoppy, with a solid malt bill that balances things out quite nicely. This one was very good. jmikolich (352), Athens, Ohio, USA Sep 2, 2008 12oz bottle, surprised alot by this one, its your traditional IPA color, but the taste is dynamic, very reminiscent of a 2hearted type taste, a tad more bitterness stays in the throat than with 2hearted but this stuff is pretty good IMO, must be pretty fresh. bottle conditioned also. PilsnerPeter (1408), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 30, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Pours a hazy orange withan off white small, creamy head. The aroma is fresh with sweet citrus- caramel & orange, along with tropical fruit notes of peach and mango. The body has nice creamy dense carbonation. Some sweet notes in the flavor (swet as in tropical fruit notes) of peach, mango, caramelized orange notes, anda rounded, mild malt back with a long finish, which is only mildly resiny. A pretty good and well balanced IPA. egajdzis (2969), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2008 [Draft @ Capones] Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus fruits, floral hops, toasted malts, and buttery toffee. Taste of citrus fruits, pine, caramel malts, grass, diactyl, and finishing with a grapefruit bitterness. Unfortunately the keg this was served out of seemed to let enough air in to begin the butteriness. RichJ7 (886), Cullman, Alabama, USA Aug 29, 2008 Very nice. Copper pour with a quarter-inch beige head. Hoppy nose with citrus and pine notes. Flavor is mildly grapefruity with a nice caramel malt backbone. Very good.
