COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

Hops in the nose is grassy, while the detectable malts are earthy and sweet. Some pear, or light green apples too. Malty and rich at first sip, fruity and dry at the end. Crisp and sharp with notable saaz bite at the end. A fine pils.

This beer has an appealing golden color when poured, with a good head of finely sized bubbles. It didn't give off much of an aroma, but what I could smell was pleasant. It has a nicely balanced taste, that is enjoyable long after the beer has been swallowed. Starts off with a medium-strong flavor and then eases into a light, lingering taste. An enjoyable pilsner that I will definately drink again.

Pours a clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma is a green leafy and flowery one. Flavor has some malt profile, but a strange off-putting chemical (acetone and ammonia) finish hovering on a Saaz hop bitterness. This really tasted awry to me, perhaps I got an old bottle. I wouldn't know, the bottle only lists the week and month the beer was brewed, no year.

Nice color and aroma. This was a very crisp and refreshing Pilsner with a bitter finish. Medium body. Quality beer.

I am 59 years of age and I love great beer. This is the greatest bone-fide Pilsener beer I have drank in my life. Just don't be put off by the appearance, more yellow than golden and very cloudy. This is superb beer!! Incredible hops, balance, and finish. Hoorah!!

I knew the idiots would be dis'n this worthy “craft” brew when they got their ignorant lips on it. A longtime fan of Pilsner Urquel as heads above all the standard American wannabees, I was shocked to taste the breadth of flavor in this truly impressive Pilsner. What another describes as an initial sourdough taste (and some ignorant idiot describes as "skunked" but not normally skunked) gently cloaks the amazingly fresh and full herbal flavor of some very potent hops. I’m no expert, but please, if you do not know or really appreciate Pilsners, at least stay away from rating them against other beer types or with a palate dissipated on insipid American standard brews.

What is the deal with this beer? Is mine skunked? It doesn't taste like a normal skunked beer. Are there hops in here? Aaaaaaah!

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2003 The finest example of a pilsner you can buy.Great fruit aroma. Wonderful white frothy head. Taste slighty of apples and pears with slight citrus thrown in. It does not get any better than this.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2003 I get a lot of lemon zest in the aroma and flavor, much like I"ve seen with Kraftbrau. I would very much like to know its source. This beer poured with a tremendous rocky head that left behind very nice lace. Pleasantly hoppy and terribly enjoyable. I could drink a heck of a lot of this. Thanks to Howie for this one.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2006 Pale gold, fine white head. Big pilsener aroma, big pilsener flavors. Medium to full bodied with a crisply bitter finish. A substantial pilsener.
