COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pure Milwaukee Genius Series 2: A true Wisconsin Lager - A freshly plowed acre of soft, rich soil. Without a single word it tells the story of a community, hard work, and a fierce dedication to the land. It recalls a time when neighbor looked after neighbor. And it reminds us that everything that we need we can get right from our good Wisconsin Earth. With this in mind, Lakefront set out to try something new, or old as it were - using all locally grown ingredients to create a distinctly Wisconsin beer. Ample amounts of Wisconsin grown 6-row malted barley give this unfiltered lager its hearty body and hazy straw color. Its malty sweetness is balanced with an elegant finish from Wisconsin grown Cascade hops. The result - a flavor that is signature to Wisconsin. So raise your bottle high, toast your neighbor, and taste the soul of Wisconsin.

It is easy to drink but it is missing something. Like seriously each sip I want to take a huge gulp searching for that extra flavor.

this beer has a very intense grainy taste that brings together a special type of taste that is unique to the beer. the hops are mild but delicious. the palate is very soft with a nice head.

Bottle pours orange gold with a white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of pineapple, peach, orange, caramel/biscuit, and light florals. Flavor is fruity, grassy, and somewhat spicy. I’m actually quite impressed by this as it destroys the majority of american lagers that i’ve had the pleasure of tasting. Overall body is moderate and the finish is balanced. They should really 6pk this badboy as it is definitely one of the best lakefront offerings hands down.

Draft pour on tap at the brewery (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a rich orange glowing hue, healthy haze, orange throughout, some deeper amber notes and a frothy brighter white head. Dies to a film, rings small. Aromas are a bit bland offering malty notes, dough and bread, touches of caramel, biscuits, and gentle toast. Some earthy mellow hops are subtle, fairly bland. Initial is mellow, lighter end of medium bodied, offering mellow toast and biscuits, a kiss of caramel sweetness, faint dryness, spice, and a touch of buttery essence. A bit odd. Mellow oranges, a touch of marmalade, more crusty bread, biscuits, and dough into the middle. Mellow spice, touches of yeast, and subtle dry earthy hops. Sweetness, oranges, and doughy malts into the back with a touch of abv. Meh, a bit bland and a bit big for it’s britches. A nice novelty though, I guess

Pours a hazy golden color with a big tight head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is herbal with a good clean maltiness, it smells nice but it’s sadly kind of faint smelling.

The flavor displays a nice herbal bitterness with some mild fruity hops. The beer has some odd cidery sweetness and is a bit hot in the finish. But there is a clean and crisp malt flavor that works really well with the hop character that make this far more enjoyable than not.

Grains and bread in aroma. The flavor grains, bread, citrus, fruit and a bit of alcohol. Apart from the alcohol, this was rather straight-forward, simple but good.

Bottle:   Dirty straw, moderate frothy white head, very nice lacing.   Strong grassy aroma, malty, a little mealy.   Noticeable alcohol, even some assertive pale fruit skin.   Big time grassiness on the tongue, malty, and thankfully not all that mealy.   Wow, this one really is meaty... fairly thick.   This is one big Lager!   Full bodied for sure.   Lingering heavy grassiness.   Clean beer, hefty Lager for sure.   I can dig this one!

iRate. Bottle courtesy of Chef Keenan. Pours a bright orange shade with a white lacing head.  Smells and tastes of pilsner malt, biscuits, grass, canned peaches, and marmalade. Dece.

Basically every cheap Lager Milwaukee is known for (Miller, PBR, Old Style, Milwaukee’s Best, Schlitz, Blatz, etc.) done right.

24-Nov-10 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 26-Aug-10 for $5.99 at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad, CA) I love how the brewery talks about what amounts to terroir for barley and hops. Does barley or hops taste really different when grown in different areas? Does it pick up unique characteristics of the local soil and climate? Anyway, if nothing else, it’s good for their local economy and jobs. This "true Wisconsin lager" pours the color of butterscotch and is very hazy with small sediment suspended in the beer. The bubbly head is off-white in color and pours to over an inch in height, slowly receding over the course of the session. The beer smells sweet and very malty, first and foremost, with grassy hops, peppery spice, ripe apples, and candy accenting the sweetness, plus moderate alcohol. It’s quite sweet, malty, and heavy on the palate as well, reminding me of those 13% German strong lagers like EKU 28. But it’s also spicy, peppery and grassy, with light-medium bitterness to help counter the near-cloying sweetness, so there is a distinctly saisony-like character as well. Lots of sweet, ripe fruitiness, though not of any specific fruit, perhaps white grapes, orange citrus, pale stone fruit, and fleshy tropicals. Full-bodied and quite heavy on the palate, though some of the weight comes from the residual sugar. Carbonation is medium, but soft, and there is a modest dustiness in the mouthfeel and a sensation of alcohol. Lots of sporadic, patchy lacing on the glass. Overall, this is quite an unexpected beer. Called a lager, and the body "meter" on the label leans sharply toward the "light" side, but this beer is anything but. It’s a strong, heavy, sweet lager, and unless you like this style of beer, it’s tough to drink a lot.
