3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 AWISLguy (668) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Bomber from ?? (Sendiks in Brookfield, I believe). Cellar aged for a year. Pours black with a brown head. Some nice foamy lacing. Aroma has molasses, chocolate and caramel with some dark fruits involved. Taste is of bittersweet chocolate, sweet molasses, salty black licorice and expresso. Medium to full bodied, and slightly rough. Finishes bittersweet, somewhat salty and quite dry. It is baltic-y; that was hit well - and is a reasonable effort from an inconsistent brewer.

Bottle. Hearty looking very dark pour with a modest light brown head. Sweet dark malty aroma, molasses, light ash, dark fruits. Chewy dark caramel malt, chocolaty, with a little soy sauce, a little ashy smoke, and lots of figgy and pruney fruit acids. Nice sweetness, full bodied. Loved it.

Bottle from a shop in Superior, Wisconsin. Black with no head. Sweet sugar and dry red wine in the aroma, with some yeast. Good flavor, if not the most complex Baltic porter. Sweet with chocolate and some coffee, but the chocolate is more pronounced. Some red wine and a tannic dryness in the aftertaste. Good palate.

Ah all the great malty, chewy, burnt aromas of a true Baltic superb.
Taste is much the same as the aroma..rich,toasty but with a bitter sweet dark fig/date fruitiness..lovely
Very nice smooth mouthfeel just the right amount of carbonation.

Bomber shared at the 18th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. This was a killer extra from Ghostface. Thanks! Pours a clear red-brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, raisin and toasted malts. The taste is raisin, chocolate, nuts and bitter hops. Medium bodied, creamy, smooth, average carbonation, low bitterness. Very nice beer, and not just because it has my name on it...
