COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brad brewed a Scottish Ale. This one’s a bright coppery brown with a malty flavor and aroma. Hoppiness take a back seat to the strong malt profile and hint of smokiness. In short, this thing ought to tighten the belt on your kilt.
Alcohol varies 7.0% to 8.5% abv

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 (Brad). Poured clear dark copper brown color with an average off-white frothy head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Good complex sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good well balanced sweet malt flavor with a good sweet malt finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a large, creamy light tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is a huge nose of chocolate, nutty, caramel, and biscuit malt, light fruity esters (dates) with faint earthy hops and some cinnamon/nutmeg character late. Flavor is malt dominant, light hops and bitterness, nearly imperceptible, with fruity esters and spices, and a medium sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle... Clear dark-caramel ale with flashes of burnt-orange when held up to light and a small, creamy, lightly-tanned head. Great retention. The toasty, biscuity nose presents subdued notes of minerals and hints of herbal roots. Medium-bodied with kicking carbonation. Well-balanced, toasty, light-caramel flavor. Finishes crisp and minerally with a caramelized toffee farewell. Bottle courtesy of KickInChalice!

On tap. It is a simple beer. Obviously the nature of this series is to try to strike lucky with a one-off recipe. This one did not hit the mark.

Bomber. Poured crystal-clear, garnety-amber with a nice cap of beige head.. great color. The aroma picked up sweet and toasty redder fruits, caramel, and a bit of smoked peat topped by some earthy notes and just a kiss of black pepper.. fresh, well-balanced, and really well done. The flavor found a touch of honey and molasses at the core to go along with smoked peat and redder fruit.. just enough fresh, dry bitterness on the edges.. finished with more fruit, smoked peat, and peppery alcohol warmth. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate.. great feel and flow, especially for the style.. very good brew.

Bonus beer from Atom. It pours clear copper with a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up molasses, prunes and a bit of earthy date fruitinesss. The smooth taste comes across similar to the nose with a mix of molasses covered prunes and earthy dates as well as some malty sweetness. This is smooth tasty stuff.

Bottle. Dark amber with reddish-orange highlights and a dense tan head. Lots of sweet malts here, burnt sugars, sponge toffee, with just a kiss of smoke that I could detect early on, but became lost in the sweet malt bomb. Not overly complex, but tasty enough.

Bottle:   Deep caramel, moderate sandy head, frothy, litle lacing.   Somewhat of a sweetish tootsie roll malty aroma.   Very much a malty tootsie roll flavor profile up front.   Not really heavy, nor even that moderate.   Seems somewhat thin for a Scottish Ale.   Not getting any smokiness or peat in this one.   Straight up tootsie roll aroma and flavor.   Body and mouthfeel are barely moderate.   Finishes with a soft tootsie roll like malt flavor.   If this is 8.5%, well then I am Santa Claus!
