3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/29/13
Aroma: The nose is maple and vanilla over coffee, chocolate, and some caramel as well
Appearance: This beer pours a caramel-orange color, with a small off-white head and mild lace
Flavor: The flavor is quite sweet, with everything the nose promises, very little balance
Palate: It is medium bodied, has an average carbonation, and a fairly lengthy, sticky finish
This one is pretty interesting. It is pretty tasty, but also very sweet. I enjoyed it well enough, but it is a little too much unbalanced sweetness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Orange-ish color; no head or lace. A bit boozy. Notes of caramel & vanilla, reminds me of an English Barleywine but not quite as well polished. Decent.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bomber from Evergreen Discount. Brown/amber and pretty clear with a small, dissipating tan head. Sweet aroma of maple syrup, caramel malts, brown sugar, vanilla, banana bread and light chocolate. Similar flavor with light fruity esters. Medium body with a slick, oily feel and light carbonation. Lingering, sweet finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Sweet bready caramel malt and alcohol aroma, very light maple and vanilla. Clear deep copper with a large beige head. Sugary bready malt, wood, and alcohol flavor. Medium body, average carbonation. Really not much maple character at all, and much too sweet for my personal taste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Pours a hazed, amber-hued body with an ivory head of moderate size.
Smell: Sweet-scented blonde caramel, ever-so-slightly nutty, with raisins and stone fruit, tenuous maple, very little vanilla, and grim alcohol.
Taste: Expectantly sweet, with the maple showing (though it doesn’t knock you over), though not particularly much of the vanilla. Dark syrup, lightly nutty caramel. Fruit compote. A little bit of booze. Lightly herbal, lightly bitter. Though mild, the maple flavor is sustained until the sweet, nutty-toasty-maple finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-light carbonation with a bit of stickiness overall.
Overall: A passable, non-traditional doppelbock, though it never fully delivered on its promise of vanilla and maple.
