COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An all-sorghum beer. New Grist, a beer for Celiacs brewed from sorghum and gluten-free yeast grown on molasses. New Grist is the first “official” gluten free beer in the U.S., although it cannot technically be called “gluten-free” until established governmental guidelines are determined for all products claiming “gluten-free” status. In the interim, this Celiac-safe beer can be called “barley-free,” and is a welcome product to those who need to live on restricted diets due to intolerance to gluten, a protein found in common brewing grains such as barley, wheat, rye, oats, spelt, kamut and triticale.

First sip seemed bland. Good amount of carbonation as opposed to the first gluten free brew I tried. This beer had a strange aftertaste, almost like watered down soda. I wouldn’t seek this beer out again.

Bottled. Super light Pilsner. Fruity hops and very light. Has a ricey taste. Pretty poor Pilsner

We’re calling this the stolen-from-gluten-free-dad-because-it-is-the-only beer. And. It. Is. A. Mess. Light, light golden with a little white head. The taste is bitter, a little acidic, a touch of ginger, free of any of the lovely hay or cereal malty goodness that is beer. So your gluten sensitive? Take the hit and drink a beer that is twice as good as this one - say Coors Light.

Bottle at Cohill’s. I had some hope for this but as with other sorghum beers it’s just bad. Thin body with sweet flavor almost like a cider. There are much better gluten free beers out there. I couldn’t finish it.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle that expires 16 Aug 2015. Straw yellow heady pour. Thin aroma of toasted malts and a bit of lemon. Thin watered down body. Thin flavor but the lemon stands out some. Hard to like this beer but it serves a purpose for people on gluten-free diets. My lowest rating in a long time.

This poured a lightly straw yellow with a white head. Aroma of hay, grass, and grain. Flavor was of bland mash water. Bleh.

12 oz single from Mile High Wine & Spirits. Gold and clear with a white head and light lacing. Minimal aroma, minimal flavor, light body. Kind of tough to drink really. I’ve had a few gluten-free beers that were tolerable, but this is not. A very rare drain pour candidate for me. Very bland. Update: Couldn’t finish it... An extreme rarity.

Bottle at home. Pours light yellow with high carbonation. Aroma is fruity. Flavor follows. Very light bodied. Decent gluten free option. But not otherwise. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear with minimum head. Taste is dull and watered down. Champagne undertones with lack of hops.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. A good gluten free option, but not suggested if ur not celiac. Not much of an aroma, head or flavor.
