BeerHawk (1050), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Mar 12, 2009 Bottle. Poured amber with a creamy off-white head that had some lasting and good lace. Aromas of honey and spices. The flavor had grainy malts with some spices. Medium to full body and smooth. curly (412), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 2, 2009 Butter’s 4th cellar reduction. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Sweet biscuit aroma but lacking in taste. Overall thin and a letdown. Butters (1278), Not-so-Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 1, 2009 Bottle at the Fourth Butters’ Cellar Clearance Event. Clear orange amber pour with small light tan head. Malty aroma and flavor. Not all that great, but decent enough. Barrios (488), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 1, 2009 12 oz bottle at Butters’ 4th Cellar Reduction. Pours an off-white head with a little lace. Body is clear ruby color. Smells of apples, caramel, and white bread. Tastes like caramel with some bread and apple notes. smith4498 (709), Miami, Florida, USA Jan 15, 2009 Pours dark copper with off white head. Light malty aroma. Caramel malt flavor with a light hoppiness. Medium body with average carbonation. jrob21 (1136), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 30, 2008 Picked this up off the singles shelf at green’s. Aroma is bread and wheat. Very much like i’m out in the field. Wheat and grain follows through to the flavor pretty well. Pour is a clear copper color with an offwhite head. Finish is pretty quick with some sweetness and caramel malt in there. patrick767 (1866), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 26, 2008 bottle - Pours hazy orange with a really thin head. It has a light malt aroma and tastes of caramel malt, a touch of hops, and a slight sourness that didn’t seem to fit. It’s light bodied and underwhelming. porterhouse (1099), Alna, Maine, USA Oct 23, 2008 (Bottled during week 3, July (’08 presumably) from McKean and Charles) Pours hazy amber with three fingers of lightly amberish off-white head. Aroma of pumpkin, egg, caramel and perhaps a hint of spice. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, appropriately rich. Light dabs of lacing here and there. Flavor starts off fairly flat and dull with some weakish caramel. As the beer warms the maltiness becomes a bit stronger and more hops emerge. The warmer sample brings some sweet caramel and eggy maltiness with a bit of a bitter bite emerging near finish. Perhaps a bit of spice in there in the finish as well. Not bad but may expect a bit better based on Lakefront’s nice Vienna. Still a fairly decent Oktoberfest.
