argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Jan 30, 2007 (12oz bottle, bottled 3rd week October) Smallish off-white head atop clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some brown sugar, light earthy, cherry. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some earthy, peach, light lager yeast sourness. Light-medium body, light stickiness, acidity. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a medium copper color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, nuts and caramel. Maybe some cardborad in there too. Tastes of the same (without the cardboard). Although these are some of the standard aromas and tastes I’ve come to expect from an Oktoberfest, these didn’t really seem to blend together and didn’t really fit. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 18, 2002 Had this one out of the tap at the brewery. Despite the other ratings, I thought this beer was not nearly as sweet as a Hacker Pschorr or Spaten. It had a good golden brown color, but it lacked a certain level of malt I have gotten used to in Oktoberfest biers. Perhaps they have changed their recipe, or I got a bad batch. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Sep 30, 2007 Pours copper with a thin white head. smells of soy sauce, tea, earthy, some citrus. Tastes of caramel, some biscuits, more tea. Not sure where the soy sauce nose came from, but the taste is pretty much on par. Not bad. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Dec 23, 2003 Clear amber with a large bubbled tan head. Smells like stale and musty vegetables and sweet corn, with some sweet bourbon aromas. Creamy palate, along with a sweet honey flavor. Ok, not great. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 29, 2004 This pours a deep amber color with virtually no head but has a lasting carbonation, small bubbles rising from the glass bottom the entire drink. The aroma is mildy sweet malts with a hint of fruits. A bit of a bitter fruit flavor, but feels good in the mouth and slides down easily, leaving a somewhat sour aftertaste. Not too bad. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jul 31, 2002 Side by side looked just like Spaten Oktoberfest with a slightly darker head. Bright dark amber color. Slightly citric aroma. Sweeter version of this style. The toasted flavors are slightly muted by the sweetness. A good beer. I would perfer this style slightly drier. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Dec 18, 2007 Bottle: Caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of metallic husk and appley yeast esters, some fruity hop. The flavor is semi-sweet, plenty of husk, a bite in the tail and mouthfeel, but it isn’t anything good, some light stale hop and carbonation. Meh.
