| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a pint glass. This beer poured a clear copper with a decent head of fizzy tan foam. Some faint lace was left around the glass. The aroma of the beer included toasted caramel, hay, and a faint metallic note. The flavor had a solid dose of chewy caramel and nuts followed up by a quick, lightly bitter grassy hop finish. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Drinkable, but nothing special. Barrios (925), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2002 very mediocre effort for a marzen: color is right, leopard amber orange and a functional head. but the aroma misfires: this is not a smell you’d want to subject people to in a crowded elevator, it’s like sauerkraut, a vein of sulpher. is this bottle a warehouse holdover from last year? a wheaties-like grainy flavor, smooth, moderate sweetness, late but vaguely twangy finish. light body stays just a step ahead of being watery. i let a mouthful just sit on my tongue and begged it to amuse me with some character, but it merely sulked there, inannimate, vacuous, like pinnochio before the divine intervention of the blue fairy.
