Pours a golden amber color with a nice solid, frothy white head that has great lacing. Aroma is of caramel malts and earthy notes, almost dirt. Flavor is mostly caramel malt, with a good amount of bitterness. Not bad, but nothing great. A nice addition to the Organic front of beers. I have never seen an organic ESB before and it is a nice option. As an ESB goes though, I have had better. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 5, 2008 This beer was better before it went organic. Now it is thin and does not have much flavor. Fairly malty with not enough hops to make it a bitter. jbuzz (660), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Very non-descript. Nice enough to enjoy, No real body and a little watery. more like a light lager. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Rather earthy aroma and flavor but a bit too much caramel malt in my opinion even though I realize its supposed to be a malty beer. I have to sample the other Lakefront beers as it seems pretty well crafted except for some metallic undertones in the aftertaste. I’m not an ESB fan but I bet the other beers by this brewery rock. I get the sense they put a lot into this one even if it didn’t strike my richter scale. Wulfstan (509), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2008 This is one of the better US ESBs that I’ve had.
Copper, it has a medium, off-white head steadily shrinking to a thin wispy top with no real lacing.
The aroma is mild but very nice. It’s fruit-bread, light caramel, candied citrus peel, hints of pine, caramel, and pineapple.
The taste is similar with candied citrus peel, caramel, faintly sour light earthiness, a lightly spicey piney bitterness, and a bready finish. It’s light, perhaps a little too sweet and with a little too much of a candied fruit-caramel quality, but has persistent flavour, some complexity, and pretty good balance. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2008 12oz brown bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester as part of this brewery’s sampler 8-pack. Pours amber-red with a quarter inch or so of off-white head. Smells like caramel malt with hints of earthy hops. Tastes like caramel and nut with chocolate notes toward the finish. Medium in body with ample carbonation. A good example of the style for sure and quite drinkable. A solid ESB.
