jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Apr 6, 2007 Bottle, Pint glass, aroma is of slightly sweet malts, no real hop presence, pours with a thin rappidly diminishing head, There is a bit of hops flavor, and some mildly roasted malts. Not bad but nothing memorable. For an ESB its pretty sad, double the hops, I really enjoy this style usually because of the balance of hops to malts, but this seemed to lack it quite a bit. Maybe I am wrong but shouldn’t the grain and hop bill be more englsh in nature? Maybe they should call it a Marzen, I would say it was a tasty marzen, but not so tasty as an ESB. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 5, 2007 Pours nicely into the glass and looks great, but goes downhill after that. I just expected so much more from this, as I am big fan of this brewery. I was expecting something bold, but it just has a little malt and slight watery taste. I just felt it could be better. lewis13 (49), Kokomo, Indiana, USA Apr 2, 2007 bottle...poured down center of pint glass produced enourmous amount of head. Tastes like it may have been made with well water (is that part of the organic process?). Slightly sour tasting with an unpleasant after-taste. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 19, 2007 Full brown with some lacing but no real head. Very light around the edges. Aromas of brown bread, a little hop herbalness, and - oddly enough - water. Palate is thin, though there is some rough malt presence on the finish. Not terribly bitter. A little caramel, some mineral/paper flavors, and dry malt. Eh. bochi23 (90), USA Mar 6, 2007 pours a beautiful color, I mean this looks like a great one! I was really disappointed in this one though once I took a drink. Where is the flavor? I like a bold bitter and this one is not it. MrChris, a few reviews down sums this one up really great, "Not bad... Frothy mouth feel, slightly watery. Hope this stuff is good for me, after all it is organic. Overall uneventful." slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 27, 2007 (from notes). Bottle. Nose is hoppy citrus with some sourness. Pours a beautiful hazy light amber, darker toward the center with a thin steady white head and visible carbonation. Thin opening into a soft, and then harsh bitterness. Flavor is simple but drinkable. Balanced with some hoppyness in the finish. dpbhoosier (51), USA Feb 10, 2007 Bottle. Nose reminded me more of pine sol than piney hops. Aside from that, it is a nice crisp refreshing ESB and very drinkable. But not one I’d especially crave. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Feb 6, 2007 Medium amber, tan head. Aroma is full of fruity esters and only the slightest hop background. Cherry, apple and herbs. Flavor has decent floral kick up front, fades into caramel/sweet malt with some more fruit esters in the finish. Guessing some kind of infection, with all the fruitiness.
