TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 28, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours to a slightly hazy, copper color, with a nice, white head that fades, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is pleasing with some nice herbal/flowery hop aroma, paired with some sweet malt aroma, and hints of estery fruit. The palate is firm, with good pale/caramel malt flavor, paired with some estery, fruity flavor. This beer finishes with more good malt and fruit flavors up front, then ends with some tangy hop bitterness that slightly lingers. A tasty ESB with good malt, fruit and hop character. A nice session beer, and very food friendly as well. I found myself wanting another after I finished my first. A good sign in my book. MrChris (110), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Jan 20, 2007 Almost no nose here. Is there malt in here? Medium frothy white head. Red honey in color. Head dies quickly. Caramel malt up front with little bitter ending. Not bad... Frothy mouth feel, slightly watery. Hope this stuff is good for me, after all it is organic. Overall uneventful. jeffc666 (1886), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jan 19, 2007 Bottled July 2006. Lightly hazed copper body is topped by a fairly insipid looking head. Interesting aroma to say the least, completely unexpected, cherry, raspberry, and just a hint of some dishwater. The flavor is equally as interesting, it reminds in some ways of a non-sour hoppy kriek. Strange I know. The palate is a tad thin, but overall this surpassed my expectations. cperry8483 (41), Platteville, Wisconsin, USA Jan 8, 2007 One of my favorite ESBs (next to Fullers, that stuff is amazing). Balanced and clean tasting (if that makes sense), I could put away three or four of these and still feel great. Awesome drinkability makes this one a winner. holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 8, 2007 12 oz bottle thanks to xnoxhatex. Its lakefront and an E.S.B. not my favorite brewery or style, but this turned out to be rather enjoyable. Pours a malty gold with a small head. Sweet malty aromas, mellowed but pretty nice for the style. The flavors matched the nose, nothing exciting but pretty decent. I’m impressed with the mouthfeel of this actually medium bodied and carmelly malty, though there is a little raw grain flavor before the malty finish. A good session beer. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Jan 7, 2007 Very mild hopping. Light carbonation. More of an amber ale than an ESB. Drinkable, but not great. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jan 7, 2007 12 oz - Poured a medium amber, very still, with a thin head. Fruity aroma. Warming aspect to this surprisingly full-flavored brew -- nice caramel basis, not nearly as hoppy as I like my ESBs, this comes off more like an American amber ale. ONly a slight orchard-like bite in this one. (#2641 - 1/7/07) DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jan 4, 2007 12 oz. bottle purchased on a recent visit to Florida, dated November, presumably 2006. Clear coppery gold with a large light tan head that leaves some nice lace. Grain and bread noted on the first whiff, and this dominates the aroma, but there is a faint floral aroma that can be picked up with some effort. Medium body, lightly effervescent, but with an astringency that is too excessive in my opinion. This seems more bitter than a classic ESB, to the extent that the bitterness overpowers the sweetness brought by the malt. The result is a beer that although drinkable with a certain refreshing quality, is somewhat unbalanced.
