Light carbonation, thin tan head. Taste is a nicely balanced mix of malt and hops. Medium bodied. Hops start out as the more aggressive profile, but the malt quickly makes itself known. Finish is slightly hoppy, citrusy and grassy. Not an overly complex beer, but enjoyable. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 4, 2005 Looks like watered down cola - very stagnant and unanimated. Aroma is distinctly grassy, with floral hops that sweeten it as a dash of honey and a squeeze of lemon juice would. Taste is initially light and refreshing. Bready and grassy. Not only is it organic, but it tastes like a tree hugger’s paradise: very earthy, whole grains, etc. Mild carbonation up front, then the taste seemingly trails off and you’re left with a haystack / cornstalk aftertaste. I can see why this is the beer that Lakefront promotes as their summer beverage of choice. Wasn’t their best effort, though. TerryR (383), Oswego, Illinois, USA

After it warms to room temp, the flavor is a little sour with malt coming through well. Palate is full with a slight bite to it. A good bitter. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 28, 2005 Aroma is extreme grass just like after doing a slide for a ball in the outfield. Nice color, moderate head that quickly dissipates into okay lacing. The flavor is intense like the color, but unfortunately the bitters take on some salty medicinal elements, especially at the back of the mouth. Still, there’s plenty of hops in the flavor and a characteristic hoppy finish. I’d say this is one of the better American ESB’s. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 15, 2005 Slghtly hazy bronze beer with a yellow spectrum at the edges. Nicely hoppy aroma, with a baby-barleywine character, suggesting dried fruit and caramel. The flavor is not especially clean, with lots of malts but murky in its profile. I can understand the comment that there is an iced tea note in here.
