COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pumpkin Lager is brewed with pumpkins in the mash, spices added during the boil, and lightly hopped. The rich specialty grains and lager fermentation combine to produce the taste and the texture of pumpkin pie.

(12oz bottle from Total Wine Scottsdale). Pours a hazy orange-copper color with chunky off-white head. Aroma is strong pumpkin pie spice and earthy pumpkin. Taste is sweet with the spices really coming through. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Smooth, spicey finish. Not bad at all.

Clear coppery orange with a small white head. Aroma smells like nutmeg and some fake pumpkin purée, ginger and allspice. Tastes of pale sweet malts, pumpkin, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, and some overt sweetness. A little too much on the ginger and spices, but goes along well with thanksgiving’s dessert.

Deep orange brown pour with a thin white head. Pumpkin and nutmeg aroma. Big malt body with lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin in the taste. Decent.

Initially the aroma of this had a good pumpkin pie aroma, but as you drink it it seemed shortlived, there is a typical oktoberfest type aroma with mineral, very light metallic, after a few drinks you start to get a sulfery aroma.Little to no head with a thin ring of lasting foam. NIce medium dark gold/copper color very clear. The taste of this is pretty good for an average abv pumpkin, i was giving up on thinking anything under 6% was even good for a pumpkin beer. This one actually has good body, nice smooth slickness, kinda creamy maybe a little buttery/salty,and has a perfect sweetness balanced well with the pumpkin spices. The taste of this beer is what i consider a great pumpkin tasting beer,no spice seems to dominate and is matched well with a carmelly creamlike sweetness that is medium, aftertaste is a little pumpkin spice but then a creamy slick finish with a crisp almost citrus but kind of butterness. Not disapointed at all with this, definatly 6 pack worthy.

On draft at North Star Bistro Shorewood. Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is spice, clove, pumpkin pie. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, spice, pumpkin pie. A good pumpkin seasonal.

10/22/11. 12oz bottle. Hazy orange pour. Medium level spice aroma, mostly cinnamon, with a touch of sweetness. Sweet gourd flavor with a nice spice profile as well. Not overwhelmingly spicy. Not bad!

I poured a 12oz bottle into a tumbler.

Appearance: Dark gold/light orange hue; surprisingly hazy but with visible carbonation; forms a small, beige, sudsy head which dissipates and leaves no lacing.

Smell: A light, sweet pumpkin potpourri with notable spice rack dustings and a subtle generic lager aroma.

Taste: Most pumpkin beers are ales, but Lakefront Pumpkin Lager is quite different in its approach to yeast fermenting methods. The bottle says nothing about how it is brewed, but the taste seems to indicate it’s a standard American lager brewed with pumpkin and other spices.

It begins surprisingly bitter with a taste that’s somewhat like saltwater, but not nearly as strong. It’s more strange than it is off-putting. Then all the spices and flavors come rushing in - a pretty tasty assemblage of nutmeg, cinnamon, a hint of cardamom and of course pumpkin. Not quite as sweet as your average "pumpkin pie" beer, this is more like a bock with autumn seasoning added.

As it warms the lager base makes itself known. I begin to taste a noticeable corn flavor, almost like high fructose corn syrup - a seemingly artificial sweetness and overly sticky texture for a lager. Not that this is OE800 + pumpkin, but a pumpkin beer recipe that probably would’ve worked much better as an ale. Something seems off, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s not enough to ruin all the good aspects about the palate here.

Mouthfeel: Thicker and softer than your average lager. This is no fizzy beer, although there is a slightly dry aftertaste from the spice.

Drinkability: Lakefront Pumpkin Lager drinks like an ale with a medium body and surprisingly smooth mouthfeel and finish. It’s probably best drank at colder lager temperatures, though, as warmth seems to unmask the flaws. It’s not quite sweet enough to work as a dessert beer, although I could see it pairing well with Thanksgiving dinner.
