COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pumpkin Lager is brewed with pumpkins in the mash, spices added during the boil, and lightly hopped. The rich specialty grains and lager fermentation combine to produce the taste and the texture of pumpkin pie.

12oz bottle poured into snifter. The aroma is fantastic, hints of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and spice. The flavor isn’t has strong as the aroma but it still matches up as a great pumpkin beer.

Thanks to BeerFMAndy for this bottle. Poured into a Hill Farmstead wine glass. Color is a moderate copper-orange color that starts with a half finger of white foam and very quickly dies down into just a slight ring of lacing around the edges. No lacing actually sticks to the edge of the glass. The nose brings a really good deal of pumpkin spice. I’m picking our ginger as the most prominent with some allspice and nutmeg there as well. The taste has some slight pumpkin character in the background, though it’s not all that sweet like many pumpkin beers. The taste is light ginger plus some caramel, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Mildly bready as well. Fairly-light body with a carbonation level toward the low end. Light and not terribly drinkable. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-20-2010

Bottle. Pours a bright clear orange with standard white head. Aroma has a surprising amount of pumpkin along with biscuit and a pinch of brown sugar. The nose is slightly vegetal, slightly sugary with plenty of pumpkin character. Less pumpkin in the flavor, but it’s definitely there. A touch of green apple and metal as well as brown sugar. Pumpkin bread finish. The strongpoint here is how the beer captured the pumpkin in the aroma so well.

pours a clear honey/amber color with a thin white head...slightly lively looking...decent retention and lacing. aroma is a little faint but has notes of spices and bread. flavor is better than the aroma suggests...slightly doughy with a nice balance of pumpkin and spice. nice crisp hops to balance it out. mouthfeel is slightly lively and light with a mildly spicy finish. pleasantly suprised...not as muddled as i thought it might be.

Aroma: Nutmeg, a bit of cinnamon, a hint of pumpkin, brown sugar and a hint of toasty malt. No hop aroma. Appearance: Slightly hazy copper with a thin, fine white head that lasts. Filtered bottle with no sediment. Taste: Flavor is mostly spice with a bit of pumpkin and a little toasty malt. No hop flavor unless it’s a bit of English muddiness hiding behind the spice. Mouthfeel: Sweetish, medium body. Low carbonation Overall: Decent pumpkin beer, but pretty one-dimensional. Most pumpkin beers are really just pumpkin spice beers- it’s neither surprising nor necessarily bad that this one is as well.

On tap at Dexters in Madison, WI, pours a clear orange/amber with no head, the aroma is of slight spices, the flavor is not balanced at all and is overpowered by nutmeg and other spices, there are better pumpkins out there.

Slightly hazy golden amber, small head... Definite apple cider aroma, kind of bland... A little spicy, not a ton of pumpkin flavor... good flavor, interesting, the lager yeast makes the finish thin, the flavors dont linger... lively...

UPDATED: APR 14, 2012 Bottle @ home. Hazy, reddish orange appearance with a small off-white head. Rich, toasty pumpkin, vanilla, huge nutmeg, cinnamon aroma. Quite rich pumpkin, spicy cinnamon/nutmeg, light vanilla flavor. This is actually a re-rate on a 18 month old bottle and is still tasty.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear orange amber color with a thin off white film. The aroma is sweet, with mild hints of pumpkin and way too much spice. The flavor is like the nose too short on the pumpkin and too heavy on the spices. Soft and a touch thin, this became tough to finish.
