Pumpkin Lager is brewed with pumpkins in the mash, spices added during the boil, and lightly hopped. The rich specialty grains and lager fermentation combine to produce the taste and the texture of pumpkin pie.

Medium golden pour. I got a strong nutmeg aroma with a little malt but no pumpkin yet. flavor begins with an average lager taste moving on to a medium pumpkin taste and finishing late with a dry grainy nutmeg. Reasonably well balanced brew. Interesting.

Obvious aromas of nutmeg and allspice. Subdued hop flavors with doughy chewiness in the long finish. Crystal malts definitely lend a hand as well in the finish. There isnít much you can do with this style.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2006 Blind rating. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel), with notes of nutmeg and pumpkin. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Unpleasant sourness hurts this one.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2004 This one pours a slightly cloudy light amber with a nice white ring of head. Nose is mildly spicy with a hint of sweet malts. Somewhat lacking in texture--a bit thin with maybe a tad too much carbonation. Slightly tart with a touch of bitterness. The spices are well done but I find myself craving a stronger malt profile to hold them up. Though Iím generally a sucker for these spiced winter beers, this one doesnít quite do it for me.

Tasted just like pumpkin pie, thereís so much spice and flavor to it, so if you like pumpkin pie youíll love this, but I donít like pumpkin pie that much, so I wonít get it again.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained 11-Nov-05 in trade with Ughsmash, thanks Jason!) Bottled during Week 1 of October í05. This isnít a bad little pumpkin beer. It has a malty, fruity and spicy aroma without smelling like bad beer masked by spice -- thatís a good sign. Similar aspects in the flavor -- the pleasant maltiness, the moderate spices (especially nutmeg) -- but thereís a hint of tartness that seems out of place. On the flip side, it does keep the sweetness in check and prevents a nasty aftertaste like the last pumpkin beer I had. Medium-bodied with standard carbonation. Amber in color and completely clear, but the small off-white head dissipates rapidly. Not bad, but it would definitely be more enjoyable to drink without the tartness getting in the way.

Nice golden color, small white head that had a short hang time then faded leaving little behind. The aroma is the usual pumpkin spice with a bit of a pumpkiny smell some maltiness but faint and little more then that. The flavor was okay with a decent spicy side coming through right away some faint hints at pumpkin and a bit of some malt but mostly there is just spice and little else.Itís kind of hum drum but itís also worth trying atleast once.

This is OK, but Iíve had mixed results despite multiple attempts at trying it. Weaker taste than I want for what it is. Weaker color than I want. Spicy, and a little yeasty, and there is a little pumpkin, but just not that great. Would only drink one.

[Bottle] Pours slightly hazy amber with a very small white head. Aroma is nice--spices and pumpkin with a little bit of grain. The spices (mainly clove and cinnamon) are also evident in the taste, but the pumpkin is not as much. The grains are more noticeable in the taste and especially in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Not the best pumpkin beer Iíve had, really went downhill after the aroma.
