COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pumpkin Lager is brewed with pumpkins in the mash, spices added during the boil, and lightly hopped. The rich specialty grains and lager fermentation combine to produce the taste and the texture of pumpkin pie.

This is OK, but Iíve had mixed results despite multiple attempts at trying it. Weaker taste than I want for what it is. Weaker color than I want. Spicy, and a little yeasty, and there is a little pumpkin, but just not that great. Would only drink one.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2003 10/9/03: bottle.
wonderful aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon. orange body with a fair amount of almond colored head. lots of spice to the taste; cinnamon and nutmeg. other than being spicy this beer kind of flattens out and there is not much there. the finish allows you to believe that you just had a mouthful of warm pumpkin pie.

Clear golden with an orange hue. Head is small and reduces to just a thin white film. Has a nice spicy aroma of cinnimaon, allspice and nutmeg that resembles pumpkin pie well. As others mention, a bit over carbonated and thin. Flavor isn't all that bad but could be fuller. Doesn't match the aroma at all. A little bitter. I haven't had a good pumpkin Ale in years and the last good one I had was BB's several years ago.

light gold color. aroma of pumkins and nutmeg spice. Not much pumpkin taste, the nutmeg and spice flavors kind of overwhelm. Not bad for a lager style.

Bottle. Iíve been seeking pumkin beers this year, and I believe this is my 3rd rating so far. This one pours an orangy brown with a disapearing pop like head. Aroma is pretty well dominated by cinnamon, but there is slight notes of other spices. Flavor comes in with some pumkin, loads of cinnamon, hints of nutmeg, allspice, brown sugar, all appropriate pumkin like flavors. Not getting any hops but thats okay, itís not needed. Tthe finish comes in fairly dry and short. Palate on this is thin, watery, but I guess itís supposed to be being a lager and all that. Slightly out of balance in my opinion and improperly spiced this one is coming in last so far on my pumkin spree. DFH is winning right now, I wish I could get my hands on some of that southern tier stuff or Oífallons, but still.

12oz, notched Bottled during Sep Wk 3. Clear orange amber with a 1/2 finger yellowish white head that quickly fades to a ring. Nutmeg is dominant, with some pumpkin, cinnamon, and a tang that I canít place. Flavor is a little more squash vegetal with a little less spice, but that tang is even more dominant and comes across as being a bit salty. Minimal bitterness in the finish. Low carbonation with a light to moderate body. It is nice to have a pumpkin beer that isnít a mess of spices, but the underlying beer just isnít that good.

Bottle: Hazy copper/orange color, light white head and nice lacing. The nose is herbal with some squash, allspice and clove up front. Towards the back a little bit of molasses. The flavor has a nutty nutmeg note along with the pumpkin and spice. The finish is a bit light and thin. Missing the maltyness that would really push this towards a respectable lager.

This beer is ok. Some pumpkin in the aroma. Copper color. Flavor of sweet citrus and some spice. Little pumpkin. A bit astringent as it finishes. Good not great.

12 oz. bottle. Bottled 8/09. Pours a thin almost nonexistent head, over a light amber (SRM 7) hazy body.....nose is cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, with a bit of pumpkin and caramel.....taste is dominated initially by caramel and spices mentioned, finish is slightly off with phenols dominating....mouth feel is light carbonation low. This beer has some potential charm, and I wonder if the off taste was from inadequate storage by the purveyor. BJCP 7/2/10/4/7
