2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Tap @ 3 Cellars Franklin, Wisconsin. Gorgeous amber red color. Some caramel and spice in the nose and a good dose of malt on the palate. But that’s where the good stuff ends. This has a funny taste to it especially on the swallow. I didn’t really care for it too much, but others might so I recommend you at least try it once.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a dark golden copper color with bright amber edges and a one finger off-white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Earthy, slightly funky aroma with a spicy and grassy hop presence countered by sweet malts and light fruit notes. Slightly resinous with piney hops followed by funky yeast, spicy rye, caramel and biscuit.
Medium bodied with a bitter earthy hop bite that lingers over the sweet malt backbone and funky farmhouse yeast into a very dry finish. Very dry and resinous with sticky pine needle, grass and spicy spruce tip flavor dominating the palate. Underneath, there is a decent malt backbone with hints of bread, toffee, caramel and biscuit but these notes are overwhelmed by the aggressive hop presence. The farmhouse character from the aroma is very faint and barely noticeable with everything else going on. There is some light fruit sweetness toward the finish but it still feels like its lacking in balance because of the earthy bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle from Emerald Spirits in Vista, on sale for $5. This looks and tastes similar to a strong British amber ale, with less characteristic hop presence. Pours light amber with a decent white head that leaves lacing. Aroma is very slight, sweet malt and bread. This one is all about the malt. Well balanced flavor, medium sweet and lightly bitter, just not enough bling going on here to get me excited. Probably one of the best beers that I’ve had out of Milwaukee, I’ll give it that. Medium body, soft carbonation, average texture and finish. Just a good, solid strong amber that is lightly hopped.

Draft at the source. From notes. Sweet and surprisingly boozy with notes of honey, citrus and orange peel. Wow, I’m digging it.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured into tulip glass a orange tinged amber with small white head and some lace. Not much carbonation and with a slight haze. Aroma was malty, earthy caramel and cereals. Taste was caramel malt, light toast. Silky in the mouth. No hops in either and not bitter. Seemed to me more an English brown. Not bad, different and refreshing. I enjoyed it.
