LinusStick (1797), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 1, 2009 Blah...A less than average dry stout. Aroma was weak for the style. Dark roasted malt with a weird dustiness to it. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a one finger near tan head. Taste was thin and watery with not much substance. Tasted like cold watery coffee with a bitter aftertaste. Slipstream (628), USA Jun 18, 2009 Rocky head on the beer, and a cool old Celtic label on the bottle. The malty aroma has a touch of skank to it. This is a dry, roasty stout. Pretty flavorful, with some similarity to the black behemoth of Irish stouts. Toasted grains and hops, a little coffee flavor too. A solid stout. RichJ7 (1134), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jun 5, 2009 Black pour with a thin off-white head. Malty, lightly smokey aroma. Flavor is bittersweet and malty with a hint of chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Nice. blipp (1407), Grand Island, New York, USA May 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown, near black, with a thin tan head. The aroma has roasted malts, coffee, and bakers chocolate. The body is a bit too thin. The flavor has sweet and roasted malt, cocoa powder, and coffee. Not bad, but very close to being in the 3.6-3.8 range with a little bit more body and a little bit more roast. noncaloric (461), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 3, 2009 Opaque dark brown, thin beige head, nonexistent lace. Figgy malt aroma. Flavor is more roasted, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee. Balanced bittersweet.. Medium to full body, yet very quaffable. Chalice (7), Oneida, Wisconsin, USA does not count Apr 14, 2009 Bottle purchased at local Liquor store. Nice coffee color.Very moderate head, coffee tones are also present on the palate, malty flavored, with a slight chocolate hint.bitter on the finish.A nice combination of flavors, could be chewier for a stout. FlssmrBrewAlum (775), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Apr 10, 2009 12 oz bottle procured from a February trip to the brewery (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a nice dark deep brown, with black and ruby notes on the edges, and moderate tannish bubbly head that dissipates to a small amount and laces a bit. Aromas have some nice dry stout effect: soda bread, vanilla, light cocoa and coffee, with subtle roast and good dryness overall. Iniviting. Initial has a good body, pushing soda bread and vanilla flavors up front with light bitterness from the roast. Light sweetness, and preaching vanilla anc reaminess over chocolate, with decent roast for the style, and light coffee. A faint bitterness from the roast and coffee remain in the aftertaste and on the palate. The light sweetness is nice, as it moves to a roast and dryness towards the backend. Pretty good sessioner I think, but a bit forgettable overall. mcjay (277), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Apr 3, 2009 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Slightly sweet roasted malt aroma. Body is a little thinner than you might expect and the taste is rather bitter. Flavor has slight hints of fruit, grains and chocolate.
