Grain bitterness matches hop bitterness. Very little malt contribution but it’s there if you hold the beer in your mouth for a little while. My mouth is a little tingly after each sip making me want another one. Yay beer! arkurzynski (95), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 22, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of alagnak. Mar WK1 notched on the label. Pour
is deep black with some burgundy highlights. The noisy one inch khaki
head falls quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma of creamy sweet milk and
mild roast coffee. Smells like a sweetened cafe au lait a bit. There
is a hint of pine present as well. The taste is pretty straight
forward roasted malt, nice almost burnt edge to it. The sweetness is
present as well, though more in the mid taste background. A mild
prickly bitterness wakes the flavor up. The finish picks the
roastiness up again and carries it through to a long roast flinty dry
after taste. This dryness really makes it drinkable, making me a want
another sip soon. Palate is medium, higher in carbonation then many in
the style, though not unpleasantly so. Nice stout, thanks for sending
it my way Chris. jimhilt (1674), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 17, 2009 Pours a five finger light brown head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Totally black color, no highlights. Light chocolate nose. Light carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Flavor is a medicinal chocolate, unusual, expecting a dry stout like Guinness. $1.80 for a 12oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. zach8270 (2086), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2009 (bottle - 12 oz) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is bitter and roasted hops mixing with some sweetness. Flavor begins slightly sweet, surprising for a dry stout, with some caramel and toffee. The middle is very roasty and burnt with a malty and slightly crisp finish. Bitterness isn’t overpowering. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2009 12oz bottle. Completely black pour and a thin head of deep mocha. RIch sweet aroma of cream and mild roast. Flavors are well blended - mild roast that cleans up the sweetness. A very nice stout - the sweetness defines it. Grizzle (44), Lawrence, Kansas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2009 12 fl. oz. bottle -> English Pint. A beer among several from my neighbors for my 30th. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t as good as a few of the others. Poured like dirty motor oil mixed with Coca-Cola: pitch black in color, no head beyond the initial khaki, and no lacing. Smelled of malts, caramel, hops, coffee, and pretzels. Tasted of malts, caramel, toffee, coffee, and bubblegum. Mouth-feel was thin and watery, esp. for a stout.
