Smells mildly like bread and coffee. Extremely dark brown color, almost black. Totally opaque. Average head with brown foam and little lacing. Tastes like coffee, strong and bitter. There are sour notes as well. Medium body, thick and creamy. An interesting looking beer. Taste is strong but not overpowering, and it finishes well.

"light bodied and smooth. taste was ok (average at best) but none of us could get past the funky/sour notes in the nose. not roasted malt/coffee/chocolate, but diaper and sour...in a dry stout. WTF? Anyway, not a good stout and not a brewery i’ll be revisiting."

Pint. Dark, root beer, color. Very roasty and rich, with a nutty chocolate flavor. Chilled. Very smooth and not overpowering.

A surprisingly roasty irish stout. Has the chocolate and coffee you’d think but with some roasted nuttiness as well.

Served in a pint glass in April 2011. Poured opaque black and brown with reddish highlights; light pour produces a prodigious tan head: it took me 3 pours and a few sips to get this 12 oz bottle into my 16+ oz glass. Good inviting aroma featuring roasted malt with hints of fruitiness and (or from) hops. A bit of less inviting alcohol esters. A superb mix of flavor components that change from initial taste to aftertaste. Great balance of sweetness and bitterness (hops). Notable flavor of cocoa with hints of dark dried fruits and coffee. Fine medium body with near creamy feel and excellent carbonation. O - Although not bold or exciting, this is a really well put together stout that I highly recommend. Great session stout.

Pint on tap at the Lakefront Brewery. I hate to point this out, Lakefront, but this is a lame stout. It had a flat and sloppy-thin body character. The taste was a mild roasted malt and coffee. Black in appearance with some brown head that quickly dissipated, just like the flavor. Nut aroma. I’ll pass on this one when I see it next time.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Light aroma, of burnt toasted malt, wood, and dark chocolate. Taste is crisp and sharp, of burnt toast, dark chocolate, wood, and malt. Lingering bitter chocolate toast. Decent.

Bottle. Dark brown with a dark tan head. Short retention. Roasty, light sweet aroma and palate. Medium body, croily texture and a light roasty, dry finish. Solid session stout.

Location/Date:Bottle on October 19th, 2012.

Appearance: Pours a dark opaque, white head.
Aroma: Aroma is really just roasty.
Taste: Light bitterness, roast.
Palate:Medium body.

Summary: Really enjoyable dry stout. I let this thing sit in my fridge for a long time even though Ben gave it to me. Would try again fresh.
