Commercial Description:
Brewed in the style of a Belgian Wit. A special blend of coriander, orange zest and unmalted wheat help to make this a remarkably refreshing summer beer.

Bottle - thanks to badgerben for the trade! Pours hazy golden-orange color with a small off-white head that diminishes to a ring of bubbles. Aroma features light citrus, wheat, yeast and spice with occasional whiffs of licorice. Flavor is sweet-n-sour, orange, sourdough and green apple tartness in the finish. Light body and gentle carbonation. Very pleasant.

Hazy yellow/gold color with a thin head. Aroma of oranges. Kind of a wheaty and orange flavor with some other assorted fruit tones to it. Touch of corriander. Quite tasty.

Small white head atop a hazy apple juice body. Aroma is zesty, medium sweet, orange peel, coriander, light wheat. Taste is medium sweet, orange, some coriander, light lemon. Watery light body, some crispness, slight creaminess. Pleasant and refreshing summery beer.

Rerate 8-1-2005... Great nervousness sets in as I put my memory where my mouth is, tasting an old favorite on tap at the brewery, as this beer should be at its zenith here. We begin with a hasty pour straight down the hatch, ricocheting off of the bottom and causing a behemoth of a head, which takes several minutes to settle down to a workable level of a 2" foamy white head. Hazy medium gold in color. So far, so good. Aroma is encouraging. Big time pepper and cloves, some nutmeg and anise. Sweeter accents of curacau and orange peel join the party. Hits the palate as sweet and smooth. Candi sugar seems inevitable somehow. Creamy lemons and oranges manifest early and often but flavor seems a bit reserved. Dashes of pepper, cloves and nutmeg ring most prevalently in the spiced finish. A little acidic lightness if you watch for it. I can see how this got me pumped in my pre-craft beer obsession days, but it doesn’t quite hold up to my modern day beer infatuations.

cloudy, lemony yellow color, nice little layer of snow-white foam on top, slowly shifting down to size. Spices greet the nose immediately, very nice, delicate and ticklish, soft, yet zesty. Orange citrus notes hit next. Very nice. Taste: again, a great, spicy spritz on the tongue, followed by light citric tones, then it’s smooth and creamy. Lush malt, delcious, complex, and happily at play in the mouth. Wonderful texture, medium bodied, long, tasty finish. Wow, this is first rate stuff, a real, honest true-as-they come wit. The well-designed label makes me want to like the beer, and i like liking beer, and now, hurrah, here I am, liking this beer, a lot! Currently, this has to be my pick for Beer of the Summer, 2004...have to go back and get some more!

Pale and slightly cloudy amber body. Very thin white head. Fungal/sweaty/yeasty wheat and corriander spice make up a nice aroma. Flavor departs from the niceities... a bit light, however I guess there are no off flavors. Soft palate, and I could see myself enjoying a few of these next 4th of July...

I quite honestly did not enjoy this beer. Nice aroma, decent foamy head. But, the aftertaste was overwhelming. Very "orangy". Much more than necessary. I’ll try another bottle of my 6-pack again, to see if the taste is acquired. But, I don’t think so ! Other Lakefront beers I have tried have been very nice. This one, I am afraid, was a dissapointment.

more blonde/gold than white, although paler and cloudier than a blonde. yeasty wheaty aroma, citrus and lightly spicy. super sour, which betrays the aroma--i’ve had lambics that are less sour. black pepper and more sourness, almost flawed it seems. nice and summery, but nothing i would want to drink more than once or twice.
