| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 10, 2004 Slightly dullish lemon yellow color, thin fizzy white cap, keeps a good collar, lace is minimal. Aroma is yeasty and musty with an indistinguishable lime-like citrus notation with a spicy/peppery corriander conjuction within. Flavors bring out a bit too much souring yeasty aspects for me to like it all that much. Apple, orange pith, lemon peel, sour stuff like that seems to really takes away from what was basically a subtle aroma tease, to becoming an all out brigade of off sourness and tang. Feel is all about the tang and sour stuff, mellows out some as it warms but stays present mostly from middle to a grabbing finish. Body is about medium to thin with a left over off-souring on the tongue much like on old orange or grapefruit. A so so wit with a bit too much of the sour stuff for me. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 9, 2004 Lightly phenolic yeasty aroma, some organgey notes as well. Thinnish, andt I’m not expecting a lot of body in a wit, either. Heavy on the orange peel.Quick shot of yeastiness and a bit of spice before an abrupt finish. jsquire (2100), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2004 Clear golden yellow out of the bottle with a big bubble white head that faded quickly. The nose has some coriander spice in it with some yeast and an odd soda pop sense to it. Very light in body, with some spice and orange fruitiness to it. Too thin to be very interesting. Not enough of most things to make it a good witbier. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 31, 2004 8/15/04: Bottle. Wheat and coriander nose. Sunflower-yellow body with a minimal white head. This beer had no lace and was missing the cloudy haze, which I was expecting. Tons of yeast remained at the bottom of the bottle after poured. Funky yeast taste with coriander, lemon and honey flavors. Lemony finish. Cool label. Ernest (4483), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with strong notes of coriander and clove, notes of orange/lemon peel and allspice. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Heavy-handed on the spicing, making this aromatically and bitterly over the top. Less would be much more in this case...they seem to be on the right track (nice malt and yeast character), but just need to back off the spices. A bit darkly colored for a wit, but nice head retention and cloudiness. Nexxus (261), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 24, 2004 Cloudy golden yellow/light amber with a large diminishing frothy white head. Aroma of coriander, orange, lemon, herbs, grass, nutmeg, banana and clove. Medium watery body with lively carbonation. Flavor of coriander, wheat, orange, lemon, grass, herbs, clove, and banana. Slightly musty/yeasty with a little tart lemon twang in the finish. Very drinkable and refreshing. Another decent one from Lakefront. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 7, 2004 Clouded orangey amber, good head formation. Strong lemon, honey, orange, tea aroma, indicatively sweet. Sweet syrupy palate, thick orange flavor, clove prominant, grainy towards the end. Little in the finish or aftertaste. It’s a white but not very well balanced, not a scratch on Hoegaarden’s subtleness and complexity. jaymobrown (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Not really much of a strong nose presence, which I like in my Wits. Tame overall. Not really much in the spice way in the flavor either. Eh.
