Commercial Description:
Brewed in the style of a Belgian Wit. A special blend of coriander, orange zest and unmalted wheat help to make this a remarkably refreshing summer beer.

Cloudy golden color, coriander and citrus in the nose. Slightly spicy, thirst quenching.

I had this during a visit to the brewery, where it was described as "like Blue Moon," which thankfully it was not. It was not all that sweet, but was very clovey in taste with a somewhat disturbing aroma. All-in-all, I’m not a fan. Appearance was a pale cloudy with one finger of head. Aroma was bad with no spice and a stale corn smell covered in sweetness. Taste was very clovey, and OK. Mouthfeel was also a little flat.

more blonde/gold than white, although paler and cloudier than a blonde. yeasty wheaty aroma, citrus and lightly spicy. super sour, which betrays the aroma--i’ve had lambics that are less sour. black pepper and more sourness, almost flawed it seems. nice and summery, but nothing i would want to drink more than once or twice.

Hazy peach. Foamy, flour blotched head. Light carbonation. Coriander aroma, some wheat, musty yeast and light orange peel. Initially spicy, whew!, peppery and slightly lemony. Mellow and medium bodied. Hint of crispness. Some nutmeg/mace notes and white pepper spiciness. Finishes thicker with a more noticeable wheat flavor. Still spicy and tingly on the tongue with an interesting mix of spices. Easy drinking and quaffable. The yeast is funny, as it it’s bleach white and sits atop the liquid like flour unmixed with water. Weird, but this is a solid Witbier.

Appears a hazy pale yellow with a soapy white head that fades out in a few moments. Smell is of coriander, along with orange peel with light wheat coming through. Reminds me a bit of dishwashing soap. Taste is of the soapiness with some orange peel and coriander coming through. Mouthfeel is acidic and semi-dry. Drinkability is not as good as I had hoped but it’s not bad.

8/15/04: Bottle.
Wheat and coriander nose. Sunflower-yellow body with a minimal white head. This beer had no lace and was missing the cloudy haze, which I was expecting. Tons of yeast remained at the bottom of the bottle after poured. Funky yeast taste with coriander, lemon and honey flavors. Lemony finish. Cool label.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a moderate frothy white head leaving some spotty lacing. Predominantly yeasty aroma of banana and fruitgum with some underlying orangepeel/coriander and a bit of grass. Balanced wheat, spice and citrus flavors which are not too busy. A fair amount of carbonation, though this seems to work with the spice/citrus to leave a nice zinginess on the finish. Not bad.

Pour is cloudy golden with a long lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is floral with light orange and coriander. (average wit aroma) Flavor is sweet malt, light orange and a hint of wheat. Refreshing brew and an ok wit. Probably won’t buy again.
