esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 22, 2009 Straw yellow with a foamy white head that leaves plenty of lace. Aroma of grassy hops, sweet malt with some grains, floral and spicy hops too. Taste is very florally hopped with some pepper, spice and sweet malt. A bit thin and lowly carbonated but not too bad. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 23, 2009 Bomber. Poured clear paler golden with a thick, well-retained cap of white head.. set up quite nicely. The aroma picked up floral and lesser lemony notes over pale and bready sweetness.. soft and well presented. The flavor had sourdough bread at the core with fresh floral, grassy, and citrus bitterness around.. mildly sour overall impression.. nice balance to it. Light-to-medium bodied and spicy on the palate, again with good balance.. just a little too sour at the back. Very good overall. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 11, 2008 Thanks to TheCheeseMan. Pours a bright gold with a thin white head. Flavor is light lemon with some hops and a slight skunkiness. Very light taste. mcbackus (724), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2008 bottle courtesy of thecheseman: pours a very clear good lager gold very little white head. aroam is great, nice floralness and great grains also. slight lemony tart. very nice.
flavour is very clean great lager flavour with nice graininess and a little citrus. MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2008 [Bottle] shared by skyview. This was quite a surprise, and easily one of the best lagers I’ve ever had. Pours clearish gold with a smallish off white head. Aroma is a little bit of sweet malt, lager yeast, and a touch of honey. Flavor is interesting with a nice medium/rich mouthfeel. Surprisingly complex for a beer of this style. Honey and a touch of lager yeast round it all out. Beerlando (2280), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours like a standard pils, a clear, medium-golden color with a small, fleeting, off-white head. Minimal, soapy lacing mostly rejoins the body. The aroma is crisp and fresh, creamy pils malts accompanied by light grassy hops and a tart lemony zing. Flavors are light, fresh, and easy going. Bready yeast and creamy, lightly sweet malts are balanced perfectly by a nice dose of grassy hops and a hint of lemongrass. A smooth, creamy, moderate body works very well in this highly sessionable brew. I could easily drink several bombers by myself on a Sunday afternoon. daknole (2795), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 21, 2008 Tasting at mcbackus house. Yellow pour. White head. Aroma is pretty boring. Grainy and malty. Flavor is bitter, pale malts, and grainy. Not a super high quality beer. But drinkable. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 21, 2008 Bottle... Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08... Clear, straw-colored lager with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is reserved, but I am finally able to pull butter, straw and pale malt notes from the glass. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and near-dead carbonation. Tilts only a fraction toward the hoppy side of balance. Bone-dry finish. Kudos to TheCheeseMan for sharing the bottle!
