2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 GregClow (2667) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 6, 2005
Bottle sample at TFOB 2005. Yellow body, white head. Light aroma of sweet grain. Fizzy body. Unoffensive flavour with sweet malt, a hint of apple, and a fairly clean finish. Like thier Pilsener, this is a passable mainsteam lager.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 6, 2005
Yellow body, small white head. Muted sweet grainy aroma. Sweetish flavour, muted bitterness. Chemicallish finish, average to thin palate. Not particularly tasty, but if you like light beers this isn’t the worst one I have had either.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 tupalev (2730) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 8, 2005
TFOB. My last sample of the evening before I sued up my extra tickets on Scotch Irish and Black Oak. Light yellow, small white head. Light to little no aroma. Watery yet drinkable grainy taste, somewhat refreshing and almost like a pallet cleanser before going back to the tastier brews. Inoffensive.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 sinkhole (258) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 11, 2006
A typical Light lager. Pours light straw yellow with a minimal white head. Bland aromas and taste leave a lot to be desired. Very similar to Blue Light and Coors Light. I added a couple of points to the overall score because it is at least cheaper than those two.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 yarry (465) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 23, 2005
351ml Bottle. Light golden color, medium carbonation and short lived head. Goes down very easy with a mild aftertaste. Fairly watered down but a mild grainy taste and hints of apple.
A pretty average beer, much like some macro’s but easier on the pocket.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 14, 2011
Originally rated May 2006. Lakeport Light is $24 for 24 bottle (before deposit and taxes). It pours a normal golden lager colour with a white foamy head that dissipates fast enough. One bubble at a time carbonation and very mild soapy lace. Decent aromas, found in a normal lager (5% ABV). Watery mouthfeel. Starts off with some light malt flavour and very slim corn comes out in the aftertaste. An unexpensive, unoffensive light brew, and great for the hockey playoffs.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2008
[1208-20080318] 473mL can. Corny grain field grass aroma with a hint of light floral hay. Clear, pale orange yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Watery crushed corn flavour. Watery light body, tinge of astringency. Not horrible for a light but not exactly enjoyable either.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 blankboy (4454) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 4, 2007
Bottle. Pours a bubbly pale gold with an average size somewhat-lasting white head -- doesn’t look too bad for a cheap Ontario Pale Lager. Aroma’s corny and sweet along with some grain but there is a hint of hops there, it’s not great but I’ve smelt much worse. Flavour’s mild, there’s not much there, some corn, grain and just a hint of hops -- it’s inoffensive but also quite dull. Not something I’d ever drink, I like flavour in my beer, but If you have to drink some buck-a-beer Light beer then you might as well get this, it’s better then some of the other contenders out there.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Cartoonkhaki (1177) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 13, 2003
I’m surprised I’m the first to rate this beer. I saw a single of this at the store so I thought what the heck. It must have been in the forgiving mood I was in today but I actually midly enjoyed this beer. The aroma was off and had a metal smell to it, most likely from the steel mill down the road but the flavour made it’s rating better. Mild in everything of course because it is a light beer after all. It had a surprisingly large head that didn’t disappear which was shocking. (maybe they added soap to this, or it just the qwirky Hamilton water flowing into the brewery???) It’s flavor was questionable but still enjoyable and didn’t have much of an aftertaste. I was really surprised by this beer. Either the label was switched or I"m just out to lunch today but if I was to ever get a light beer this would be one of my choices. This must have been the freshest bottle for sale in all of Hamilton. I had it a bit cooler then room temperature.
