2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nothing better than a random beer in a can from southern Ontario airlifted to the arctic.... price be darned! Looks okay, decent level of foamy head and bubbly macro-lager goodness in the body. Soft aroma of sweet rotten corn stench with barely a hint of cardboard. Flavour has some strong fruity esters and adjuncts thrown in with a citrusy and bitter finish. Dry, at least. While it’s totally not great, it’s much better than the other macro I’ve been drinking up her for the last couple of months (and thus my relatively highy rating might be just celebrating a bit of variety!).

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Canette 473ml.

(drain pour and ticks’ night) last one, ugh. pours clear pale yellow with a decent white head, little retention. apple juice and booze, herbal notes, faint cereals, hint of chemicals and wet cardboard with boiled veggies. aggressive carbonation, light body - watery altough it hides (well) some texture, very short and bland herbal finish. weak for sure.

I don’t know what the fascination is with ice lager is but I’m sure the last place to give it a try is on a discount brand. This one almost made me sick.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
For this rating - a 900 milestone - I decided instead of rating the beer, I’d let the beer rate me. It was difficult at first to communicate with the beer, but after some deep thinking (read drinking), I came upon just the right psychological medium to communicate with the few yeast still alive in my tin can of Laker Ice. Here it is:
The guy drinking me seems to turn a pale colour after taking his first sip, almost deathly if I had to choose an adjective. He smells a little drunk - I feel like I’m not being accorded all the proper respect due to a beer that rates in the tenth percentile of the distinguished category of pale lager. Just think of the multitude of lagers that rate worse than me...
His appearance is a little offensive. After sipping, he pulls his lower jaw back in some sort of attempt to close off the top of his throat to any further invasion. He squints his eyes and looks around as if someone else is responsible for this digression in taste. His stomach churns after I flow down his throat, clearly offended by a perceived sense of mistreatment.
His palate is pasty - there is far too much slobber floating around in his mouth to make an honest rating here. Overall solidfunk is a bad recipient of the yellowy, high-carbonated bliss I have to offer him in the lager department. A pity.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
473ml can pours a pale straw color with a 2 finger white head that settles almost as quickly as its poured. Aroma is grainy malts and grassy hops. Taste is more of the same. Typical macro brew.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Originally rated September 2005. Bought in the cheapy single section of the LCBO. Pours a golden colour with hardly any carbonation. The white head dissipates quickly and leaves a bit of lace. The nose seems like alcohol, metallic water and grains. The taste is slightly bitter and bites a bit with the alcohol, then goes into this clean dry aftertaste with hints of corn. Pretty refreshing and easy drinkability, but hits the spot... and you feel it without seeing it come.

0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
473mL bottle from the Lickbow. Pours a flaccid yellow with no head. Smells like, garbage malts, corn, alcohol. Tastes like, the same lousy aspects with a harsh alcoholic bite in the finish, which is kind of impressive for something at only 5.5%. I’ve never really understood what the hell an ’Ice’ beer is, what the process is, or if it even exists at all, but I’ve always had the sneaking suspicion that it’s the fancy name for a half-assed Malt Liquor. Run-on sentences aside, this beer makes me believe in this theory even more. Even for Brick this is bad, disappointing as Laker Lager is almost tolerable.
