OntBeerDrinker (17), Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2009 The colder it is,the less watery and sweet it taste. It’s just a hint of sweetness so you know it’s their(not in a way that will turn me off)and when colder less watery taste. Usally when I say a beer taste water it’s more like dirty tap water with alcohol and I like clean filterd water with no alcohol. You don’t taste the 6.5%. If I didn’t know the % I would think a different % but not sure what #. I have one left for tonight from a 6pack i bought at the beer store to try out. cheapist way to get(no singale’s for slae)6 pack is $8 something. Is it worth a 2nd 6pack? I am not sure. it’s a meh beer, but worth trying. Something I wanted to try for a while and bought on late October. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 11, 2009 Clear gold blonde with dense dishsoapy head - cap has foam-rubbery solidity. Initial aroma is kind of harsh but it subsides, and it smells sweet with apple and corn. Taste is sweet and bready with spoiled fruit like melon. Late hop bitterness makes it dry to the mouth. Radek Kliber (3928), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2009 Bottle 341 ml
Appearance: amber with element of gold , light white top quickly reduced to fizz Nose: Amber and gold malt aroma , hint of honey.4+ Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied with thinner finish. Basic yet fairly proper malt base. Some sweetness with dry even sharp alcoholic top. Carbonation not to high. Sweeter malty finish. If matured bit longer this could be proper Mocne.
MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada May 20, 2009 Bottle from a six pack at the LCBO- A dark straw, pours a frothy, but short lived fizzy white cap. Leaves some sticky lace. Smells of honey, pale malts, a bit of grains, some mild grassy hops. Tastes of sweet grains, grassy hops, honey. There’s a sharp dextrose/metallic edge to this, but it isn’t all that bad, and to be honest I expected a drain pour. Sweet on the finish, surprisingly light body for the ABV, which there isn’t even a hint of. You could do a lot worse. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2009 341mL from a mixed sixer from the brewery. Pours out an almost completely dead mildly deep gold. No head. Very little carbonation. The aroma is basically Formosa water and Brick malts, maybe a hint of hops. Flavour is very sweet, not cloying but it still feels a little unnatural and unsettling. Pretty drinkable but I don’t know, something about it throws me off. No sign of the ABV either which is odd. More flavour than the other Laker brews but still kind of watery. I’m surprised I’m the only one to have rated this as I don’t think it’s new.
