Growler: Thanks, Scot. Deep brown with ruby highlights at the extremities. Almost black. Foamy & moderately chunky beige cap. Rich chocolate aroma with a heavy pile of roast & smoke over top. Big woodsy & chicory smoke aroma. Very campfire-esque. A touch of milky sweet undertones with a dab of black licorice. The flavor is less woodsy & smoky with a heavier hand to purely roasted & dark chocolate malts. Hint of licorice with a dry roasted malt finish, almost like an Irish stout, although there’s a small touch of sweetness in the periphery. Not quite rich enough to be called "milky", though. Faint smoke, not nearly as heavy as it was in the aroma. Good overall.

Near black with a dense beige head. Huge coffee aroma with chocolate and bourbon notes. Taste is also heavy on the chickory coffee with strong chocolate and easy bourbon notes. Slick texture. Really nice beer but you need to like coffee.

Growler thanks to Air. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roast, coffee bean, wood. Thick mouthfeel with rich dark chocolate, coffee bean, vanilla, with light dryness. Easy to drink, really impressive.

Growler filled at Craft and Growler: pours a dark black like oil with khaki colored head. Coffee and lots of it on the nose, just a hint of bourbon and cocoa; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more coffee, just a coffee bomb, love it!

Firkin at Bearded Lady. Pours a very dark brown color. Little light gets through. The head response is pretty big, foamy and tan. The aroma is WOW!! Gorgeous dark coffee notes, roasted notes, coffee grounds, light bakers cocao and wood. Flavor is big coffee notes, dark chocolate, light woody notes and roasted tones on the finish. This is fantastic! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Firkin at Goodfriend for Lakewood's 1st anniversary party with Taylor Thomas Patrick Scott Ashley and Garrett. Pours black with light lacing that dissipates quickly. Aroma of barrel coffee vanilla, great. Taste is bourbon, barrel, vanilla and lacto. Finish is too quick and good. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2013 On cask again, and this is glorious. Coffee & milk in perfect harmony. Magnificent as it warms. Serve this over ice and put Starbucks out of business in the summer. Easily one of the best stouts I’ve had from Texas.

Virtually unrivaled by its peers, the majority of whom are behind the curve in middle school while FQ Temptress is banging your hot friend in college. It’s THAT superior to the local competition.

Original rating: Espresso and bourbon shine through in the aroma. Hint of chicory at the end. Much improved over the base here. Smooth and milky, yet chicory is missing on the palate. Flavors shine and play nicely together. Viscous! A nice variant, and a helluva BA milk stout. Wish I could drink this regularly.
