COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Goatman is the third release in our Legendary Series. It’s what we’re calling an India Black Lager. It’s a hybrid of a West Coast-style Black IPA and a German Schwarzbier, and its odd, danky melding pays homage to the strange and dark creature that haunts the woods and shores of White Rock Lake. It’s enough to curl your toes, or hooves.

Bottle:   That’s pretty black.   Pithy citrus peel up front.   Flavors of black malt, soft roastiness, citrus peel and pith, some dank hoppiness.   Gets a bit brighter on the back.   Very unique and interesting, Black IPA with the smoothness of a lager.   Roasty backside, but with a sweet citrus peel.   Might say its more of a Black IPA than a Schwarzbier, but nonetheless its interesting.   Warming but not alcoholic.   Just noticed this was 9.3%, wow.   Very dark pithy finish.   Pretty tasty!   Thanks Bill!

Kind of tastes like a forest fire, in a good way. Pine and smoke and chocolate (left behind by the campers making s’mores who started the forest fire in the first place, no doubt).

It poured a pitch black color with a tan head. The aroma was of pine, citrus and hints of dark chocolate. The taste was hoppy with hints of lager and chocolate. It was medium-bodied with a slick texture and smooth carbonation. Good stuff. Thanks Johnny!

Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Dusty aroma of roasted malt, with subtle notes of hops. Bitter and dusty flavour of hops and roasted malt, with notes of some spice and coffee. Lingering, bitter aftertaste with sourish notes. A weird Schwarzbier.

From notes. 22 oz bottle on March 15. The pour is dark black with some garnet or ruby spots around the edge. There is a nice khaki head that falls down to a ring with decent lacing around the glass. The aroma is lightly hoppy with a strong roast character. It’s got a light chocolate note on the front and middle with a light fruitiness on the back end. The flavor is quite similar. The hops really fade out and the roastiness takes over on the back end. The mouth feel is good, creamy, with medium carbonation and a delightfully dry roasty aftertaste.
