Tap at Holy Grail Plano TX. Very hazy dark gold with little head. Nice yeasty nose with some mild floral hops. Taste starts off with a Belgian yeast light on the tongue then a mild tangy hoppiness with a nice bitter kick. Good stuff here if you’re in the mood for a more subtle version of an Ipa

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DrVertebrae (3) - Texas, USA - SEP 17, 2012 does not count
I had my first one a few days ago and plan to go to the brewery this Saturday for another tasting. I need to have a few more but I liked the hop smell and bitter taste. A definite grapefruit aroma which is fun to smell and goes with the general taste of an IPA but it did taste a bit green as I recall the tastes of some of my home brews. But I like that, too.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 taphandle (1135) - Texas, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Another solid entry from Lakewood. A good standard, summer, American IPA. It seems to be a solid entry where they can begin to vary a bit (Imperial, etc).
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tejas (800) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 5, 2012
I’m just not a fan of these mash-up beer styles. This one struggles from an identity crisis. Is it a Belgian or an IPA? It has the characteristics of both but they blend to make a weird just OK beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dixonian (1470) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 4, 2012
On tap at the brewery’s 1st tour.
Deep amber brew with a nice white head. Nose of spicy Belgian yeast, floral hops, and citrus (especially grapefruit) - bitterness is there but not overpowering. Lots of juicy citrus and earthy hops.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 legion242 (1999) - Richardson, Texas, USA - SEP 2, 2012
Poured a nice amber with little head. Soft nose and a very soft, very appreciated palate. Not a hopheads Ipa, but one I could easily stomach.
