Bouteille 341 ml, achetée chez Peluso (Montréal). Servie dans un snifter. Robe noire surmontée d’un collet brun. Beau lacing. Arôme de chocolat, vanille, café. Goût: malt rôti, alcool et café. Amertume intense. Équilibre moyen. Rondeur moyenne. Une Imperial Stout pas trop mémorable...

Bottle (341 ml). Pitch black with a small brown head and very little lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, light smoke and hints of red fruits. Taste is about the same. Medium to full body. Chalky mouthfeel. Average Imperial Stout (and like mathieuc said, not really "imperial").

Tasted in November 2011. Aroma: Bourbon, coffee, chocolate and roasted notes. Appearance: Black with thin creamy brown head, lasting quite long and sticking to glass leaving a nice lacing. Taste: Attack is coffee and chocolate with a slightly acid backing. Roast bitterness is kind of long lasting but well dosed and not unpleasant. Acceptable stout with a smooth smoke and coffee bitterness.

Un des liquides les plus noirs qu’il m’ait été donné de voir ; mousse rare, mais très foncée aussi. Au nez, surtout des grains de café très torréfiés, ainsi que du chocolat noir, et une petite touche de vanille. Épaisse, elle présente des saveurs corsées, très torréfiées comme prévu. Assez sucrée, plutôt chocolatée en fait, elle possède une belle rondeur, une attaque plus importante en bouche qu’en gorge. Un imperial stout en plein sur le style, très goûteux mais pas trop agressif, bref bien balancé.

Pours a pitch black colour with a beautiful brown head. Aroma is strong with roasted malts, espresso, smoke and tar. Flavour is very rich with roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, strong grassy hops, espresso, smoke and plums. Full bodied, thick but also smooth mouthfeel and thick carbonation. Very nicely balanced. Slightly warming, strong roasty finish with surprisingly high bitterness. Awesome!

Draft pour at Delirium Hoppy Loft. It has a deep dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up a modest dark roasted maltiness, some dark roasted coffee and then chocolate goodness that presents this aroma on a silver platter. The taste is pretty rich with sweet malt infused dark roasted malts and coffee and then rolling into some chocolate to almost a chocolate brownie richness. Into the finish it picks up a pleasing yet mild sweet dark fruit ester note that I am enjoying quite a lot along with the rest of the flavors. This is smooth rich and creamy and under 8%, craziness. Well crafted brew!

Bouteille 341 mL Verre tulipe Une bonne imperial stout, basique, mais très bien réussie.

darft @ Hoppy Loft Brussels. Noire huile de moteur; col moka laissant un léger filament doré au verre. Arôme est malté chocolaté, pointe de café et d’épices, le tout est légèrement biscuité suivi d’un bouquet grillé-moka. Palais est épais, malté et café/chocolaté, côté grains grillé avec un abv persistant tirant plus que le s7.9% annoncé. Le tout reste assez caramélé donnant un effet sucré collant sur les lèvres. Amertume est discrète et vient juste en fin de bouche ajoutant un effet léger épicé houblonné. Fini est sec, café-grillé avec un résiduel amer houblonné.

Draft sample @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Didn’t expect a lot from this one but this was quite excellent & honestly I was quite surprised to see that the ratings on here are as low as they are. I have had RIS with far more acclaim that were around this level in my opinion. Pours black with a lovely bit darker mocha head, great expected appearance. Smell is clearly on the sweeter side, quite milky, sweet chocolate, some grounds underneath but on the sweeter side, sweet, light roast & sweet coffee. Taste is in similar fashion milky, creamy sweet mocha & lots of chocolate, creamy blended with coffee grounds & malt roast underneath but covered in sweetness, milk chocolate, quite light grains. Creamy body, simple which definitely doesn’t meant a bad thing in a beer for me & quite yummy.

Poured dark oily with a thick tan head. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Medium, smooth body, flavour of roast coffee with a dry, bitter aftertaste.
