beerbuzzmontreal (2666), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2008 Pours a muddy brown color with a thin offwhite head. Interesting aroma of bananas, chocolate and cloves. Very good flavor of chocolate, bananas and cloves, there’s a mild toasty/ burned feeling too. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. Very well done. red éric (1376), montréal, Quebec, Canada Mar 12, 2008 Hazy dark brown hue, with a small beige head, yeasty, spicy, fruity bananaish nose with a wheaty, toasted, caramelized malt accent, with some good clovey, nutmeg, cinnamon-like notes, with some dark dried fruity esters of mainly raisins and plums, within subtle ripe apple skin aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, wheaty, toasty, character, with some bananas, caramelized ripe apples, figs, raisins and plums fruitiness, distinctive of a dunkel weizen, with a hint of cloves and nutmeg spiciness, a faint chocolatey praline accent, leading towards a malty, subtle acidic fruity finish. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence de banane en arrière goût. (Rating #1495) Glouglouburp (1852), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 1, 2008 In short: Ripe bananas and all, this is a typical but superior Dunkel Weizen.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy orange-copper body with a little ring of foam
In long: Slightly toasted wheat, honeyed malts, a drop of caramel, lots of ripe bananas and cloves spiciness. Some dry grass in the finish. Medium carbonation. This beer basically covers the usual flavour spectrum of the style, however it does it better than most. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it since Dunkel Weizens is a style that usually turns me on about as much as a big burp during preliminaries.
Quevillon (1238), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Feb 29, 2008 Bu en fut (20 oz) sur place le 29/02/08. Brune caramel vaseuse, petit collet. Arome de blé bien malté, légèrement épicé et sucré. Goût de blé épicé sur le coup, pius suivi par du malte caramelisé suptile. Pas explosif en goût, mais bien agréable!
