Taktik_MTL (1843), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Dec 29, 2004 Verre de dégustation à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de caramel et d’épice. Apparence: Couleur ambrée. Carbonisation faible. Petit col qui forme une dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût d’épice et de caramel avec légère touche de sucré. Palette: Aucune amertume en bouche. Très agréable à boire. (Rating #50) beerbuzzmontreal (2674), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 23, 2004 Pours a cloudy, reddish color with a thin creamy white head. Spicy aroma including cinnamon. Subtle flavor of spices and fruit with a sweet finish. Medium body, smooth palate. Very good, I make sure to sample it every year in the Christmas season. dhurtubise (569), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Dec 16, 2002 This is a crisp, bitter red pilsner. It has a resounding Saaz hop bitterness that plays well with the malt charcter of the beer. Quite a unique product in North America. tiggmtl (4157), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 20, 2004 Mildly spicy hops play nicely with the caramel in the nose. Almost opaque amber-brown with decent, large-bubbled, off-white head that recedes to generous cover with some lacing. Caramel and toffee malt flavours dominate with a spicy hop flavour and decent balanced bitterness. Engaging carbonation on the tongue. On tap at the brewpub. MartinT (4241), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 5, 2002 Updated: Dec 13, 2006The biscuity pils malt nose serves up healthy fruity caramel...The rich body sets up a discreet but very coherent flavor profile...The influence of the Munich malt on this Czech lager is obvious, and takes the pint slightly over into the sweet realm of things...Who else in North America but L’Amère à Boire would offer us such a rare style (a 15-degree Czech polotmavé for crying out loud!) for a refreshing Christmas?...
