3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marheb (415) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 19, 2011

On tap at L’Amere when Andy, Max, Pearl and I took a roadtrip to Montreal and then Vermont. Pours a ruby tinged black to brown with a thin to medium sized tanned head. Toasty, roast, nutty malt. Roast, toast and soft sweetness. Very smooth, cocoa and chocolate. Subtle, nutty and toasty. Really excellent stuff.

Une pinte sur place. Presque noire cette bière avait une belle mousse beige sur le sommet. Des arômes rôties, café, torréfaction sont bien perceptible. En bouche elle est soyeuse, ronde, goût de rôtie. Facile à boire et agréable.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MiP (11253) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - SEP 4, 2010
Draught, 5.0% at the brewpub. Roasted aroma, some chocolate, slightly vinous. Almost black colour, brown shine. The flavour has some chocolate and a distinct vinous note. Like port and old raisins. Tastes well-lagered, and quite good.

Very soft for a porter, it was silky smooth, and i was able to have it alongside their imperial stout. I find this to be VERY similar to the stout. It seems to be it’s little brother, just lower on overall bitterness, and flavor but quite similar. A nice semi-sweet, and roasty porter with cocoa, and coffee notes.

Cask at the brewpub. Depp ruby-brown with a small tan head. Mellow roasted malt aroma, with some creamy notes. Soft mouthfeel. Nice flavour of roasted malt and nuts, mellow coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Very smooth and pleasant porter.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (4420) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 9, 2007
Small creamy brown head. Deep dark brown body, barely translucent. Milky, roasty burnt aroma with mealy grainy hoppy notes. Sweetish milky roasty pine needle hop taste. Mild, clean, smooth mouthfeel. Very harmonic, oily mouthfeel. No aftertaste. Wonderfully drinkable. (0.133l draft.)
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 radiomgb (2078) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 20, 2007
Black in colour with ruby shaded edges, lingering mid sized beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is slightly roasted, sweet chocolate, some coffee, creamy. The flavour is again lightly roasted, good amounts of chocolate sweetness - not overpowering, light coffee, the cream continues just like in the aroma. Moderatly sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes lingering, good roast. A little bit light, very soft and highly drinkable, all of the flavours that I want in a porter are here.
Draught at <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/quebec/montr%E9 target=blank>L’Amère à Boire in Montreal, Quebec on December 27, 2006.
