Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2006 Updated: Aug 1, 2006Aroma is light floral hops and caramel accented malts. Body is a murky yellow and holds a firm thumb thick white head. Fore is lightly floral and herbal bitter with hops followed by a watery middle that is adequately malty, but too carbonated for the style. It has that crispness most of the macro drinkers like and while it is not a bad beer at all it doesn’t have any real range of flavor and the bite of the carbonation is unappealing to my palate. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jul 28, 2006 Slightly hazy amber with little head. Toasted caramel aroma. Toasted malt and caramel flavor with a smooth, mild finish. Very drinkable with a nice body. Lacking in hop character for the style though. Better than previous versions I’ve had. haddon90 (1034), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2006 Got a 6 pack of this at the Whole Foods in Clarendon, VA. Pours a clear amber color with minimal head. Bubbles race to the top. Light floral aroma, with light hops. Easy to drink. Light hops, with a light dry finish. You could consider this a Light Pale Ale. bkurtz (276), Peru Jul 2, 2006 Poured a nice golden/copper with a slight head and light lacing. Floral aroma with some bitterness. I like it for the crisp bitterness, but something is off. Could be more balanced. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany May 9, 2006 A very bland pale ale, not a bad flavor, just not much in way of hops to this one, Abit sticky. An organic brew, I guess its got that going for it. Easy drinking. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA May 7, 2006 Light orange pour with a big poofy head that only very slowly subsided. Nice aroma of malted grain with a sweet edge. Musty flavor ... cereal-grain is a heavy basis, and it’s almost chewy. Hint of grassy sweetness wraps it up. I’m disappointed in this offering from Goose Island. Not bad, just not noteworthy. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA May 4, 2006 12oz bottle BB 07/14/06. Pours a bronze color. sinking off-white head leaves nice lace. Aroma of malt and citrus, something musk-like, a touch of cologne maybe. Carmel comes through. Flavor: a malty pale ale with a good dose of carmel malt, a bit bready, with some leafy hoppiness to it. Finishes with bitterness; which is nice...but the leafy aspect of the hops does stick around and becomes a little distracting. An average pale ale, that does achieve a good balance of hops & malt...but seems like something in the mix just sticks out too much in a bad way...those leafy hops... wunderbier (1264), Tampere, Finland Apr 23, 2006 Slightly hazy honey-amber hue with a moderate frothy, off-white head that’s quickly diminishing. Malt notes of bread, grains, and a touch of caramel followed by a rather sloppy DMS/vegetal aroma. Soft orange and floral hop tones. Touch of honey sweetness in the nose. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Flavor introduces an element of caramel covered pineapple slices. Graham cracker like aftertaste. Lightly astringent. Medium bodied, oily texture, moderate carbonation. Muddled and narsty flaws.
