Smooth and surprisingly rich palate. Some fruity notes up front, barely noticeable hop finish. OK session ale, I suppose. Nuffield (2749), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 13, 2005 Being their Goose Island store brand, it comes in regular shape 12 oz bottles, in six-packs, unlike the niftier squat-bottled 4-packs that they get from their North Coast beers. This is an example of an American style pale ale that approaches in style and spirit the English bitter. What I mean by style is this: limp head, largely clear amber/golden color, vegetal and caramel aroma with a slight perfume note (but only when its cold), murky and grassy flavor. In spirit? It’s not expecting to do a lot and it achieves that handsomely. nick76 (2695), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2008 The aroma is very malty with caramel and herbal hops. The appearance is amber with a good head. The flavor is like the aroma and is well balanced. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s very good! DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2004 (12-ounce bottle) This is a malty, woody pale ale with a mild bitterness and little in the way of hops; The flavor has a slight fruitiness and sweetness up front, and the bitterness is a bit stronger in the finish; Fairly carbonated mouthfeel; Pale golden in color and slightly cloudy, with several large, chunky flakes suspended in the beer; Earthy, woody, mildly malty nose; White head fades to a thin layer and leaves a fair amount of fine lacing PilsnerPeter (2667), Flushing, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2007 Found this 12oz Bottle at Whole Foods in Union Square. Deep orangey pour topped by a white film. Grainy citrus aroma. Some orange peel, and hints of bready grains. Light in body. Grainy flavors with only light hints of bitter orange. There’s a big herbal character, with some spicyness in the finish. Prolonged herbal and spicy characteristics in the finish as well (sage?). Interesting, but nothing standout. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 27, 2008 A decent beer, it is almost too fruity for me. Very light and almost fluffy, I wouldn’t consider it so "full-bodied". Not so bad really, just a bit too much fruity hops and none of the others. kramer (2533), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 25, 2007 12 oz bottle, via Ughsmash I believe. Pours a clear dark gold body under a one finger off-white fizzy head. Quite a bit of visible carbonation. Aroma is pretty light, just a little floral hoppiness and a toasted malt base. Flavor is much the same, a little too sweet for my tastes with an odd medicinal note on the finish. Minimal bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a little risidual sweetness leaving a little bit of a sticky gummy note on the finish. Pretty pedestrian, even for an APA. Really surprised to see Goose Island is behind this effort. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2006 12oz bottle pours amber with a fluffy offwhite head that stays fairly well and laces the sides of the glass. Aroma is light grapefruit and a touch of caramel. Flavor is light grains, caramel, a bit of grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied but a little chewy. Would make a fair session.
