COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lambics are truly the “wines” of the beer world. With wine one speaks of “gout de Terroir” because the land so influences a wine’s flavor. With Lambics, one must speak of “gout de Tonneau SM“ because each cask (tonneau) produces a lambic that matures and tastes different. Blending these Tonneau is such an art that there exist independent Geuzestekkerij (blenders) who buy young Lambic then age and bottle it under their own name.

Lambickx™ is Vanberg & Famille’s brand of hand-selected and blended lambics. Every Lambic with the Lambickx™ name is made from casks personally tasted and chosen by Don Feinberg, one of the first importers of Belgian beer to America and founder of the first Belgian-only brewery in the U.S. Don chooses his Lambics for their complexity, brilliance and drinking excellence both by themselves and as exquisite accompaniments to food.

Very excited to see this just sitting on the table, 3/4ths full; so i swarmed on that bitch!! filled my glass 3 times!! .. . pours a deep yellow .. good foam, lacing is like a rabbit that exploded .. . tartness is on the level, bitterness is spot on and the mouth is mild and refreshing .. . hay, lemon, light barnyard, crushed daisy, and sandy earth .. . a great lambic and very impressive for this brewery! .. . . later tiffany, ya fat bitch!!

Mostly flat, yellow-orange liquid with just a light sparkle. Classic lambic nose of musty lemons and grapefruit, while the flavor is a bit nutty and only lightly tart, soft, smooth, young-tasting. Not that this needs to be a classic gueuze, but for the price I’d think bigger sparkle and more age would make a bigger impression. Still a fine food beer.

Aroma is cheese, sour fruit, and just plain funk. Flavor starts like a cider with lots of fruit, and finishes with sour funk. OK, but honestly I just don’t get this style.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy straw color with white head. Aroma is heavy barnyard, funk, wet hay, sour. Taste is sour, funk, but way too much vinegar flavor for me. I was happy to try this one, but probably wouldn’t buy again. Maybe some age would do it some good.

Golden pour, smell of pear skin, green apple skin, sourness, lemon, chestnut, oak, and funk. The flavor is funky, oak, low sourness. It is slightly watery. Not ht ebest.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a few bubbles, but effectively no head. Nose is a bit woody, actually. Taste is quite tart, but with a nice dry crispness. Quite acidic.

Bottled 2012. Minimal pop from the cork. Pours nearly flat, zero head or fizz. Cloudy straw body. Barnyard gueuze funk in the nose; by far the most appealing part of this brew. Watery taste start to finish. Mostly yeast; lots of bitterness, precious little lambic flavor. No carbonation... Body needs serious work. Come to think of it, this entire beer needs reworking. Avoid.

Bottle with 2009 on it. Pour is clear and medium gold with little head. Aromas of lemon sourness, oak and coconut from the barrels, nectarine and a little barn funk. Flavor is heavy with tart nectarine and lightly barrel flavored. Very nice feel and palate development.

12/1/12. 750mL bottle thanks to nulledge! Hazy golden amber pour with a very loose, soapy off-white head that fades instantly and doesn’t lace. Plenty of funkiness and wood with plenty of vinegar as well. Thin body and flavor with wine dryness and flavors and very light carbonation. Slight funk and lots of vinegar. Eh.

Bottle from Total Wine, Naples. The pour’s dead still hazy gold with absolutely no head whatsoever. The nose is lemon peel, acetic vinegar, light cheese and dusty attic. The taste is light wood, dust, sift grape, general rust, dirt. Subdued flavours. Muted mouthfeel, soft palate. Overall, a less than impressive effort. Shame.
