COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale in Smoked Stout style. With an interesting colour of a friar’s frock, this beer is characterised by a thick cappuccino-coloured foam. On the nose, it has smoked notes recalling scamorza and toasting notes recalling coffee. In the mouth, it’s more delicate and features notes of liquorice, cocoa and dried fruit (carob) which come along with a delicate bitter taste due to the toasting of malts. 12.5°

Aroma full of bbq, smoked ham, wood and grapes. Nice black colour with a full brown head. Very dry and a but watery at first. A bit oily, then chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste is very dry and bitter. Interesting!

Pitch black with a greyish yellow head. Smell is lots of leather and smoke. Bacon, cheese. Taste is watery bitter. Creamy mouthfeel with an oily finish. Taste starts watery but evolves into ashy creamy cappuccino. Surprising.

Bottle; 33cl; poured at home. Thanks to madmitch76. A really drinkable smoked porter. Opaque with a nice brown head on appearance which simmers down to the edge of the glass but not covering it all. The aroma is Bamberg malts; smoke; grains; chocolate; leather and tar. Taste is chocolate; smoke; some crystal; toffee; blackcurrant; tar and leather. Great drinkability for the style. Really awesome work.

Draught at the brewpub. Black colour with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, light chocolate and light coffee notes. Flavour is smooth malt, some roasted qualities, some light chocolate--hindered by a thin and watery palate. The smoke builds slightly but it isn’t hearty. Flat carbonation--if I’d been told this was a pint of Guinness it would have taken me a few sips to challenge.

Draught. Black colour, brown head, fair lacing. Aroma is coffee and smoked, like burnt wood. Medium, quite aggressive bitterness. Nice.
