COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale in Smoked Stout style. With an interesting colour of a friar’s frock, this beer is characterised by a thick cappuccino-coloured foam. On the nose, it has smoked notes recalling scamorza and toasting notes recalling coffee. In the mouth, it’s more delicate and features notes of liquorice, cocoa and dried fruit (carob) which come along with a delicate bitter taste due to the toasting of malts. 12.5°

Key keg through a handpump at the Italian Job. Near black with a lasting coarse tan ring and a smoky ham-accented nose. Chocolate, smoke and strawberry notes join roasty malt and a creamy texture. Light burnt-bitterness and a hint of salt in the finish.

Really great smoked Porter. Malty, chocolatey with smoke notes all throughout. Great beer.

The smoke notes aren’t strong as expected, barely notiable in the aroma and quite masked in the taste. Not bad, woth a try but nothing special.

On tap at Uiltje Bar. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of leather, smoke, light fruity, roasted malts. Flavour is light sweet, ashy, leather, smoke, light fruity, hint of coffee, dry powdery bitter finish. Light bodied. Nice.

Tap. Very dark brown color. Small size, tan head, stays as a ring. Toilet, roast, sourish, woody, bit of cheese in aroma. Sweet, smoked, woody, roast in taste. Sweet smoked cheese in aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Mellow and nicely balanced. Enjoyable brew.

Tap (Koht, Tallinn)
Rich aroma, sweetish mellow smoke, some umami-hinting soyey meatiness, odd offal aspect too, alas. Dry smoky taste, but with a milky feel, I know smoked milk doesn’t exist, so let’s call it smoked cheese without the cheese. Palate lightish, a little flat. Finish drier and smokier, less full, but no less pleasant. A bit of a weird one, with some downsides, but all in all one that keeps me happy to sip at it.

Smoke isn't particularly pronounced in this beer. Dark brown with a slightly soapy head.
