Dark with brownwhite foam. Low carbonation. Aroma of sour coffee, burnt malts, bitter. Good but a bit watery. Where is the smoke?

Poured black as midnight, creamy small beige head. Aroma of smoked ham, ash and earth, leather, wood and some oak.. Taste of some caramel, ash and smoke, earth and dead fallen leaves. Interesting one.

Let’s start with the negative side: the beer is watery, especially for a stout. Other than that this is one of the best beer I have ever had from Italy. A nice smokey stout with a great lingering taste. Bottle from Van Erp.

Igen sötét, vörösesbarna színe van, ami ha nem fény felé tartjuk, akkor teljesen feketének tűnik. Habja igen termetes, kapucsínó barna, tele van buborékkal és közepes idő alatt tűnik tova. Illata enyhén füstölt sajtos, kissé húsos, pörkölt magvas, tőzeges és kávés. Ízében is folyamatosan ott van a füstös aroma, de nem olyan erősen, mint a híres Bambergi rokonainál. Mellette van még pörkölt maláta, kakaópor, kávé, vanília, kis szalonna, túlégetett szotyi, sajt és egy adag komló. Könnyű teste van és apró kis buborékokkal van telítve. Utóíze kormos, kesernyés és száraz. Engem meggyőzött!

Dobre piwo choć spodziewałem się więcej dymnego posmaku wędzonki. Przeważa palony słód, wędzonego jest mniej. I zdecydowanie mniej niż w słynnej Schlenkerli z Bamberga. Na spory plus zasługuje wygląd to mamy bardziej czarne jak guinness piwo z brążową pianą. Piwo jest na finiszu bardzo wytrawne i palony aromat dominuje podczas każdego łyka. Ogólnie polecam.

Cask @ Open Baladin. Black body with a minimal beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, some smokiness. Taste is dark chocolate, some bitter coffee note. Low bodied with soft carbonation.

750ml bottle. Clear darkest brown colour with huge, firm, frothy to creamy, minimally lacing, beige head. Moderately sweet, smokey malt aroma, ashes, salami. Taste is smokey, salty, minimally sweet caramel malty. Well done Smoked.

Assaggiata da Bibere, una smoked stout pressoché perfetta. La migliore tra quelle assaggiate.

Bottle from my friend Mike. Colour is opaque very dark brown, off white very big foamy stout head. Nose roasted malt, smokey, but not heavy feeling. There’s also lighter grain and malt in there too. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, light wood smoke, lighter grain malt, and some hop too. Light smokey stout which is very drinkable.

Cask at Bir & Fud, Trastevere Roma - 03/10/12.
Mid black with a medium dark tan head that retains very well. Excellent full glass lacing ensues.
Big roast malt nose, bitter chocolate, coffee and a touch of smoke.
Tastes of big roast malts, great milk chocolate flavour and a touch licqourice.
Smooth feel, medium bodied with light carbonation. Would have picked up 4 out of 5 for palate but a few floaties appeared in my mouth from the glass at only around 30% of the way into the beer!
Good stuff floaties aside!
