COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale in Smoked Stout style. With an interesting colour of a friar’s frock, this beer is characterised by a thick cappuccino-coloured foam. On the nose, it has smoked notes recalling scamorza and toasting notes recalling coffee. In the mouth, it’s more delicate and features notes of liquorice, cocoa and dried fruit (carob) which come along with a delicate bitter taste due to the toasting of malts. 12.5°

Tap. Very dark brown color. Small size, tan head, stays as a ring. Toilet, roast, sourish, woody, bit of cheese in aroma. Sweet, smoked, woody, roast in taste. Sweet smoked cheese in aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Mellow and nicely balanced. Enjoyable brew.

Tap (Koht, Tallinn)
Rich aroma, sweetish mellow smoke, some umami-hinting soyey meatiness, odd offal aspect too, alas. Dry smoky taste, but with a milky feel, I know smoked milk doesn’t exist, so let’s call it smoked cheese without the cheese. Palate lightish, a little flat. Finish drier and smokier, less full, but no less pleasant. A bit of a weird one, with some downsides, but all in all one that keeps me happy to sip at it.

Dark brown, black almost, light brown lacing foam head. Strong smokey, hoppy aroma, coffee notes. Kind of moix between stout and smoked style. For sure clear style in taste, smoked. Explosion in mouth of complex taste, bitter in aftertaste. Very nice. (Milano 201511)

1.5dl on tap at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam. Body is pitch black, head is very small, brownish, fully diminishing, fair lacing. Nose is roasted malt, flavor is dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, toast, dried fruits. Light sweet, heavy roasty bitter. Finish is long lasting roasty medium to heavy bitter, tons of coffee and dark chocolate, slightly watery sidetaste, later also hoppy which is developing. Medium body, sticky dry texture, average carbonation. Not too heavy, great dessert beer, fantastic.
