Porpora is an interesting Bock hopped with Styrian Golding, Perla and Cascade and dry hopped with Styrian Golding.
Lager in the Hopped Bock style. Bright red colour with ruby reflections. On the nose, caramel notes are neat and followed by clear herb notes from hoppers, finally surmounted by winy and dried fruit scents. It tastes of syruped fruit but it never becomes sickly, thanks to the perfect balance ensured by the hopper. As a whole, this beer has an extraordinary balance which makes it extremely easy to drink. 18°

75cl bottle, BB 17/04/2013, Lot#L04512, shared with Tomaz.

Hazy amber - brown beer. Big tan head. Softish palate with a little prickly carbonation. Rich malt with slightly sweet dark toffee. Malt cream before the seamlessly integrated hop. Nicely joined up. A little bitterness in the aftertaste. Tasty lip smacking beer.

Bottle. Bronze with a big head which took time to dissipate. Quite impressive presence of alcohol with some background hoppiness. Pleasant but nothing outstanding.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2012 Alla spina.

Bottle 0,75ltr: Beer label with a woman of loose morals on it, hazy brown coloured with very well hidden but identifiable sourness and good hints of caramel. Not really an German Doppelbock interpretation but more an Dutch micro-brew variation.

Mahogony brown, creamy beige head. Clove, nutty, twigs. Not very strong (but maybe a bit cold). Good amount of bitterness to balance the inherit brown sugar sweetness. Bit of a short ending. Nice carbonation. Enough flavour going on. Pretty nice. (75cl bottle, somewhat expensive, shared with paul_kok)

Clear red brown beer, creamy light beige head, adhesive, pretty stable. Aroma: sweet mocha, sweet malts, bit nutty, brown sugar, a touch of yeast. MF: light carbon, full body, creamy texture. Taste: mohca, toast, caramel, fruity, plums, bitter hops. Aftertaste: mocha, grapefruit, toast, bit fruity, dry bitter ending, alcohol warming the throat. Good but not great beer.

Bottle @ ZZT’11 #2: Thanks to IluvatarMilan: Creamy head on top of a light hazy ruby colored beer. Smell barleys, rose hips, caramel and some hops. Taste barleys, raisin, good bitter, toasted malts, hops, light spicy/herby and darker ingredients. Good bitter hop barley dark fruit herby aftertaste. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. I liked this one!
