COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porpora is an interesting Bock hopped with Styrian Golding, Perla and Cascade and dry hopped with Styrian Golding.
Lager in the Hopped Bock style. Bright red colour with ruby reflections. On the nose, caramel notes are neat and followed by clear herb notes from hoppers, finally surmounted by winy and dried fruit scents. It tastes of syruped fruit but it never becomes sickly, thanks to the perfect balance ensured by the hopper. As a whole, this beer has an extraordinary balance which makes it extremely easy to drink. 18°

Bottled 75cl. I didn’t really enjoy this beer. Malty, sweet, a bit alcoholic with raisin reminiscence throughout. No memorable components which I enjoyed.

[750ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Pours a hazy mid-brown colour with hints of raspberry, thin white head. Hoppy bitter aroma with some caramel and alcohol whack – really has the punch you’d expect from a bock, and this continues on the taste, strong malty alcohol with a decent amount of caramel sweetness before the hops comes out. Quite sweet at the end [14112010]

@Mondial de la Bière 2010, Strasbourg - translucid reddish-amber colour, modest head retention; aroma of red fruits and caramel; full-bodied and with a chewy malt palate; sweet and fairly bitter, quite dry with a long bitter hoppy fruity finish and some notes of apparent alcohol

Bottle @ mondial de la bière Strasbourg. A clear dark amber beer. A floral beer, quite hopy, good caramel taste, quite sweet, a good bock.

Bottle@Home, label said 7.8% ABV. In short: well balanced, complex, flavourful and balanced. But in no way I would have guessed this should be a Dunkler Bock. It’s more like American Strong Ale with English hops. Good stuff.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2010 Draught at Bir & Fud, Roma. Darkest amber with a laced tanned head. Rich toffee and caramel notes. The flavour is toffee, caramel, nuts, fruit and grass. Very sweet mouthfeel. Fullish body. Malty finish.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2010 Good alcoholic aroma. The taste was too bitter. Overall, a discrete beer. A good try but way too bitter to me.

Bevuta alla spina direttamente al birrificio Lambrate. Rispetto ad altre birre dello stesso birrificio mi è piaciuta meno, a mio parere è un pò troppo amara.
