COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porpora is an interesting Bock hopped with Styrian Golding, Perla and Cascade and dry hopped with Styrian Golding.
Lager in the Hopped Bock style. Bright red colour with ruby reflections. On the nose, caramel notes are neat and followed by clear herb notes from hoppers, finally surmounted by winy and dried fruit scents. It tastes of syruped fruit but it never becomes sickly, thanks to the perfect balance ensured by the hopper. As a whole, this beer has an extraordinary balance which makes it extremely easy to drink. 18°

Pipper (325) - Ohio, USA - APR 25, 2009
Poured from tap at Birrificio Lambrate. Deep brown ruby and cloudy pour with a two finger head. Almost no aroma, the only subtle whiffs you get are a true representation of the taste that follows. At Lambrate this is advertised as a 7% abv which may be false advertising since there is no bite. Flat and smooth on the palate with very little lace. A very enjoyable everyday kind of beer.

Draught, 7.0% at the brewpub. Good fruity hop aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Big stable red tan head. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is nicely malty, good fruitiness, seems to come from the hops.

Deep dark amber colored with little light brown head. Strongly hopped caramelly aroma with added sugar feeling. Medium bodied. Flavor is also overly sweet with strong hops still, aftertaste is sweet-hopped with mild roastiness. Well, good one, not sure about balance.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2008 Creamy beige head tops a beautiful deep red Altbier. Nose starts from a complex red fruits bouquet, namely ripe plums & black cherries, a nice burnt caramel, to a subtle noble hop hint. Well bodied, starting with a firm maltiness & ending with a really bitter dry end. Fantastic.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Toasted and caramel maltiness hugs peppery, wooden hoppiness before slowly letting go to reclaim its succulent sovereignty in this complex and very drinkable strong Altbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Whipped cream-like foam adorns the russet gown.
-This may be heavier than the usual Altbier, but I don’t believe these guys are trying to brew to specific stylings. Good for them!
-The body is delicate and round, with relaxing carbonation.
-There are dried fruit edges, especially in the nose.
-Balance is achieved. This is a beautiful beer, like many brewed at Lambrate.

On tap at the brewpub.
