COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porpora is an interesting Bock hopped with Styrian Golding, Perla and Cascade and dry hopped with Styrian Golding.
Lager in the Hopped Bock style. Bright red colour with ruby reflections. On the nose, caramel notes are neat and followed by clear herb notes from hoppers, finally surmounted by winy and dried fruit scents. It tastes of syruped fruit but it never becomes sickly, thanks to the perfect balance ensured by the hopper. As a whole, this beer has an extraordinary balance which makes it extremely easy to drink. 18°

Bottle at GBBF 2011, with Ken and Leighton. It pours dark ruby brown, with a massive, foamy off-white head. The nose is brown bread, dark fruit, sweet malt and caramel. The taste is caramel, toffee, raisin, leather, chocolate, grass, light malt vinegar and brown sugar. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A very drinkable dunkler bock.

Bottle at GBBF 2011, Day 1, shared with Ken and Paul. Pours cloudy ruby with a big, off-white head. Nose holds some toast and dark fruits. Really damn sweet flavor, loads of dark fruit, toast, mild leaves and brown sugar. Slight dough and yeast. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Just damn sweet in the finish with notes of toast and fruit. Really damn tasty. This is what I expect from a dunkler bock.

A hazed dark amber with a thick big bubbled moka head. A herbal caramel malt with light grassy notes. In mouth, a sweet nutty malt with Belgian yeast, Belgian hops, licorice, quite nice. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 12 2011.

Hopfig-malziger Antrunk, aromatisch. Etwas karamellig, weiter recht hopfig mit gutem Malzanteil. Die Hopfigkeit bleibt konstant und zieht Bitterkeit mit sich. Harmonisch, kräftig, gelungen. Test vom 13.8.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 12,11,11,12,-,12 - 11,68

Bottled 75cl. I didn’t really enjoy this beer. Malty, sweet, a bit alcoholic with raisin reminiscence throughout. No memorable components which I enjoyed.

[750ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Pours a hazy mid-brown colour with hints of raspberry, thin white head. Hoppy bitter aroma with some caramel and alcohol whack – really has the punch you’d expect from a bock, and this continues on the taste, strong malty alcohol with a decent amount of caramel sweetness before the hops comes out. Quite sweet at the end [14112010]
