3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A gentle creamy white head covers the hazy golden hue. Quite fresh aromas! I enjoy that. A finely honeyed nose with grainy and cerealic maltiness. Bright-flavoured in mouth. On the other hand, its hop is not the best one out there, timid, lightly floral and a bit salty or I’m mixing up with the gentle minerally nature. Considerably sweet mouth presence though in a bready way rather than the honey that was hinted at. Soft palate, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Pleasant and tripel reminiscent.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Small frothy white head. Hazy yellow body. Perfumy earthy hoppy pea aroma with malty notes. Dry perfumy mealy papery yeasty taste. Weak earthy egg-like aftertaste. Balanced and harmonic, but didn’t really like the aftertaste. (0.3l draft at Isola della Birra, Milan.)

On tap in Milan.
Pineapple, banaa, marzipan and toffee are elements I can identify in this lovely beer. It is a bit to murky for a blond, it looks like broth, actually, so maybe a face lift could be in order to make the appearance be as good as the flavour.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught Good dense head, yellowish coloured; pale orange beer. Nose of wet dog, old Wallonian houses’ aroma (sorry) but then I get some hops and sweet aniseed grains. Taste is rosewater, sweet almonds and some light malts, leaving a lot of restsweetness, ending spot-on with quinces’ jelly. Very slick, sugar-filled. Aftertaste gets some peppery, lingering flavour. It’s sweet, but not cloying. The sweetness is intentional, and it is nowhere boring.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2007 Draught at the brewpub.
Orange clearly color, lightly hazy. Not much bubbly with a compact and sufficiently long-lasting foam. Light aroma with notes of fruit like oranges and sugared, much cake. Amazingly light taste, insufficient perceived alcohol. Light bitter on a sweetish and sugary final.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[on tap. dec 2005] Amber color, medium-sized white head. Caramel and orange in the aroma. Rather similar in overall character and taste to the regular "Lambrate" ale, only with a golden color. Candied fruit, orange, flowery notes. Very drinkable despite the7% ABV, medium-bodied, rather good balance (sweet but not syrupy).

This beer was a bit heavy on the malts for me and ended up being too sweet for my tastes, but I respect the different texture from this beer. While the nose and aftertaste was all malts, the tongue was almost a bit hoppy -- nice! 7% didn’t hurt either. Nice job, Lambrate, bring more good beer to Milan.
