Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Malty aroma. Decent sized head on medium orange body. Very malty taste, decent drinkability. Smooth mouthfeel.Seemed to be cloning the Aventus, but too sweet.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2008 Any first impressions?
-A sheet of foam protects the hazy dark sunset.
-A wealthy banana purée is spread onto the humble cloves, which had been sprinkled on a bready yeast; an aroma which spells out dessert.
-A rather sweet flavor profile offers plenty of caramelized bananas.
-The luxuriously filling body benefits from the pillowy carbonation.
What if you dig deeper?
-Clovey phenols glow brighter in the last half of the sip.
-A fruit cake-like, candied personality sticks to the velvety banana esters, making this glass a little heavy on the sweet side of things after a while.
-Biscuity pils malt subtly salute the nose.
-This is neither an Aventinus, nor a Celebrator, but indeed a scrumptious realm rotating around this imaginary binary star system; life is thriving here, and it is beautifully complex and merry.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown with a smallish off white head. Sweet and fruity malt in both flavour and aroma, light yeasty notes. Alcohol lingers more as it worms. Fruity, not quite raisins, candy like sugar and sweet caramel malt. Medium smooth palate. (3+) Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at L’Amère à Boire, pours a cloudy rusted brownish red with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, leather, and dry caramel upfront, with some very mild dark fruit and spice presence. Flavour is refreshingly fruity, with banana especially, cut down by toasted nuts, dry caramel malts and some feint spiciness. Medium-bodied, with good flavour depth and well-balanced complexity. Very enjoyable.

Small offwhite head. Hazy orange-amber body. Powerful yeasty banana and malt aroma. Sweetish mealy banana and licorice taste, a bit musty, somewhat dry. Notes of apple. Dry peas and licorice aftertaste. Nice session beer. (0.133l draft.)

Draught at L’Amère à Boire. Pours a murky orange-copper with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma: Wow, that’s nice! Lots of fruit with sweet malt, spices, alcohol and some sugar. Flavour’s also very nice, it’s sweet and fruity with yeast and a touch of alcohol. Nice medium to full body. This is a great beer!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Veiled light caramel colour covered by a firm sheet of pale beige foam. Pleasant, pulling nose of raisin bread, well extracted wheat, potent cloves and fragrant, ripe bananas. No false hops as all those main attractions are kept on in mouth where little subtleties join the carriage hinting at whipped cream here, at strawberry cake there, at walnuts in this corner and toast over there. Delicate and authentic craftmanship. Charming, doing everything right and finding its own niche in this heralded style. Exactly what one might expect from L’Amère à Boire, the Trustworthy.
